Can anyone confirm that they've changed the type of metal used in the ground shield since the plugs were introduced.

Id hate to break one off at 200k

Where'd you hear that? This is the first time I've heard anything about it.

Yeah, everybody likes to gripe about this "lousy plug design". I'm guilty as well but the bottom line is there's no way Ford could have known that this issue was going to happen when they created the plug. All Ford was trying to do was build a rock solid, reliable engine that would haul and tow like a beast. I think we can all agree it's mission accomplished. Our F150's may not be the fastest trucks out there but when it's time to work they get the job done.

My truck regularly sees WOT. It took forever to get it broken in, but it makes good power.

They really don't look too bad, and from whay I've read about plug disasters on here that's saying alot. Good job on the positive thread.

The grade of fuel or additives has been mentioned before, along with factory it was assembled at. I was the one that had 3 plugs broken by the dealer at 53k mi. Those looked great for 103k. I'm in Ohio with oxygenated fuel for emissions. What state are you in?
