This has been in development for a while. One of my brother works at the place that make the transmission for the superduties. He's been talking about these for 2 years.

Only the Superduties are getting the six-speed. However, with two highway gears (5th and 6th) I still don't see these trucks getting better than 20 on the highway.

Chevy can only manage 20mpg highway with their half-tons with their On-Demand technology.

Anyone know what the projected mileage is on the new Toyota Tundra with the 6-speed ?


BMW is going to start installing 8-speed autos. What's next?

CVT. Not for the trucks though. But past 8 speeds, whats the point in more?

I guess so more truck drivers will want to purchase one?

Commercial diesel trucks have 32 speeds that I know of, maybe more, lol.

Maybe the new lots of gear vehicles will come with splitters like the big rigs.

That would be neat but I dont know how many people know how to drive one with a splitter.
