Mine did the excact same thing Monday (2/5/2007). 2005 5.4 sitting at a stop sign, started running rough, shaking, backfiring, smoking, gasoline smell, engine light. Drove it to the dealer and when they tried to start it, it acted like a low battery but finally did start. They replaced 3 stuck injectors and the spark plugs. Started it and it still smoked and could hear knocking sound in engine. Now they are trying to determine what the sound is coming from and what they are going to do about it. They did give me a taurus to drive (oh boy)!

Did any of you fellows use fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank periodically? What about fuel filter replacements.
I'm just curious about the circumstances of the failures

No additives, No filter replacement. Only has a 13000 miles on it!

They called Friday and said it broke a piston when it tried to crank while full of raw gasoline. A short block has been ordered and the install should start Wednesday.

I took a look at it and man is there a lot of room in the engine compartment -with no engine

Does anyone know for sure who manufactured these injectors and if there is truth to the 2005 only being Siemens and 2004,06,07 being Bosch? Should I ask the dealer to replace all the injectors with the current version?
