Drive by wire

I have done a lot of searching and really havent found anything. Why did ford decide to go to this new style. I absolutely hate it. Is there anything i can do to help this. I already have dual flowmaster series 40 and a k&n intake system. It seems like everytime i hit the gas it take 2 seconds before it does anything. Sometimes it does it when im driving down there road at a steady speed. Any help THANKS

get an xcal2 or an edge- no problems after you do that!

You should consider a tuner like the Xcalibrator. A tuner will make noticeable improvements in throttle response.

I had a DiabloSport Predator tuner with the tunes that it came with for about a year. I recently sold that tuner and got the Xcalibrator II from Troyer Performance. Both tuners did an excellent job improving throttle response. You step on the gas peddle and something happens, right now.

I decided to go with the Xcal from Troyer because I heard so many good things about Mike Troyers tuning. I feel like it was a very good investment. I have not done any dyno runs to prove it, but it feels like the truck now has a lot more power than it did with the DiabloSport Predator. Also the shifting with the Xcal feels firmer without being jerky.

Anyway, that is one man's opinion.

To answer your question as to "why" Ford decided to go with the fly-by-wire... There are actually several advantages, IF it's done right. It's claimed that it delivers slightly better fuel economy (not enough to notice). It provides smoother throttle control. You can notice it when going over a bumpy road, when your foot is bouncing all over the pedal. Instead of the truck jumping every time you bump the pedal, it remains smooth. The electronic throttle control doesn't react to every little/instant movement of the pedal. Instead, the reaction is slightly delayed (nano-seconds) which results in smoothness... That's the theory at least!

But yeah, I agree that Troyer tunes can greatly improve the driveability of our fly-by-wire trucks.
