I hate the strip but thats just my opinion. I'll probally get the whole windsheild down with 35 or 50 percent and be done with it.

HMMMMMMM.
Yep. My tinter wasn't going to tint the windshield strip until I told him the matrix/logo was sandwiched in the windshield.

I have 35% on my driver/pass door windows (state limit), 5% on the rear 3 windows and the windshield strip was put on from the leftover film from the rear window, so didn't cost me any extra. Most states prohibit tinting any lower than the a|s-1 line (or whatever the initalials are on it...it's the little line you see in the glass about 6" down next to the A pillar), but mine is lower than that and never have gotten any hassle.

I had a hard time deciding the same thing.

I had the installer put the strip in but I had them shorten it to the "little white lines" on either side of the windshield. With the strip that short it doesn't bother me at all but the strip does become rather thin over the mirror, only a couple of inches.

it is....at least in NY....NY only allows 7" down on the windshield and the front windows must allow 70% of light to pass through which is basically an untinted window....but i've always had my vehicles tinted and haven't really had a problem...

Agreed. Couldn't live without a strip.

I personally don't like the look of the tinted strip. I had it before on my S-10, and I didn't think it was very functional either.

I have a strip and love it.

As for the matrix, the stock windshields have them sandwiched in the glass. SOME aftermarket windshields have them on the inside of the glass and that will affect the tint.

How dark did you go? Did you do all the way around?

I just got mine done this morning. Its not as dark as I'd like. I talked with the owner about doing %20 all the way around, but it doesnt look as dark as my wife's pilot which is supposed to be 20%. It looks like a good quality job, so I am not going to make a big deal out of it. I am surprised how lightly the factory tints the back windows. I swear my 250 was darker from the factory.
I almost wish I would have went with limo all the way around. I can see into and out of the back windows way more than I thought I would be able to.

I dont want to attract the popo, so I am probably good where I am. Guy only charged me $165 cash to do the whole thing. If it bugs me enough, I'll get another layer over the back glass.

I had them do the chrome stuff on top. You cant tell from the pic but the f150 on the top of the windshield really looks good.
