Brake Problems with my 06 FX4

Well...it turns out that the extreme cold was the problem. I'm back home in California and no issues. The smell I was smelling was the snow hitting the hot tail pipe and differential.

Sounds like your truck hates the cold.

I had an odd problem with my trucks brakes a few months ago. Every time I would hit the brakes it would start to shimmy a little bit. I took my truck in after about 2 days and the guy at the dealership told me I must just have a lot of miles on my brakes. I laughed at him because my truck only had 6k miles on it at the time. Later he called me and told me my rotors and calipers were shot and that it was a manufacturer defect Ford knew about and they replaced them for free. Never heard any noises from the brakes, just had a minor shimmy while braking. Now they work great!
