Brake Problems with my 06 FX4

I'm visiting my folks in Colorado Springs, Colorado from California and since I got here my rear brakes and possibly my front brakers are making a squeeling noise. And only when the truck is going backwards in reverse or just rolling backwards in neutral. I'm not sure if the calipers need adjusting or what? The truck rolls back in neutral as I mention, so the brakes are not locking. The problem is only present when moving the truck backwards never going forward. Any ideas?

I too am curious to figure out what this is because I have the EXACT same problem it is only when the car is moving in reverse. I asked the question earlier but have yet to have anyone respond. I am sorry I couldn't answer your question but Im in the same boat with you.

They mostly use sand but also salt. I noticed the problem after I first powered washed the truck.

Do you ever get a weird smell from the rear brakes?

It's like hot oil or something.

Just a shot in the dark but you may have a problem with the parking brakes hanging up and not releasing all the way. If you are smelling something that seems to be caused by something getting hot, It's time to have a look at it, or take to the shop.

I guess I'll take it to the dealer just to make sure the parking brakes aren't sticking. Hopefully, it has some thing to do with the weather since it doesn't make the noise going forward only in reverse.

Had the same problem, turns out my rotors needed to be turned since I was stupid and only replaced the pads on an earlier brake job.

They turned all the rotors and sanded the pads, no more noise.

BTW - Try doing some hard braking a few times to break up any stuck brake dust, see if that helps before doing any work.

Isn't it all kinds of frozen there right now? My guess is it has to do with the extreme cold/weather.

The weather is pretty bad...everything is frozen so hopefully the weather is the issue here.
