Source for Recall and TSB info?

Hi all, my first time posting here.

I am not yet an owner, but am looking at a nice looking '04 SuperCab and have been taking a look at the forums for stuff to watch out for, or warning signs against purchasing this particular year truck. It has a 5.4 engine. I have seen the posts about rear window rattle, and the spark plug issue, and since the potential purchase has only 22K miles on it, I will probably make the removal and reinstall of the plugs with anti-sieze a priority if I do make the purchase.

My question is this. Is there a source for recall info and TSB's that is free? Or do I bite the bullet and pay for a subscription somewhere? I found Alldata.com, and I coulda sworn a few years ago the info there was free, but now it seems I need to purchase a subscription to see anything but the titles of the recalls and TSB's.

I don't consider myself a cheapskate, so will pay for a subscription if necessary (suggestions for the best service are welcome!) but I also don't want to pay for something I can get for free.

I have wanted an F-150 for roughly the past 16 years, and let my wife talk me into a P.O.S. Jeep Grand Cherokee so we could easily haul around the kids. Now the kids are out of the house, and I want my damn truck!!! *LOL* I am going used, but just want to see what I am getting into before I jump.

Thanks for any help, and I'm sure I'll be posting here lots!

www.motorcraftservice.com...

You have to sign up & pay a subscription (short time or annual). Once you pay up, you have unlimited access to all TSB's, recalls, shop manuals, wiring diagrams, OASIS reports, etc... I have an annual subscription, and I use it quite frequently.

Thanks for the info! Aside from the various rattles (seems like the back window is one common one) and the frozen/breaking spark plugs, I don't see too many complaints about the truck I am after....but more reading needs to be done, otherwise I will probably blindly run in and buy my dream truck (though I wish it had the compass and outside temp thang) tonight or this weekend.

Try this link. I look through this often to keep up to date with new found issues. You will have to look through each TSB link to find those for the F150 but it should prove helpful to you.

subscribe to infotraxx.com - it's cheap and you get a one year subscription for about 20-30 bucks. I let mine expire when I bought the 06 because there were none listed 'yet'. The amount of tsb's for the 04 and 05 will scare the pants off you but it is a great source of info if you are researching an issue with your truck.

Thanks again, all!

I may have been sidetracked by a 2002 King Ranch edition F-150, but will still want to look up the TSB's and recalls for that, regardless of which truck I end up with, so I still appreciate your input!

Thanks!
