I did a sew on padded leather steering wheel cover on my Toyota Celica years ago. I must have stabbed my fingers 20 or so times with the needle sewing it on, but that thing helped fatten up that skinny little wheel, and made it a LOT easier to grab the wheel in the Arizona sun...

I had that thing on there for at least 5 years before I sold the car...

Just a follow-up to my question... used the Sand and Oak colors and it turned out real good... (I think).

Schweet - this appears to be a near-perfect color match!

I dont have a picture but mine went on pretty well. I first researched a 'baseball stitch'. This method uses two needles.

I also had some sailcloth needles that were pretty tough, and had some bends on them.

I've done two, and 1 hour and a half is about the right time it should take.

I had mine on in a little less than an hour. I threw it on the dashboard for an hour or so before I installed it though, so the heating may have helped out with the stretching.

I picked mine up from here:

...cheapest place I found.

For those asking about color matching, if you go to www.Wheelskins.com you can request sample pieces of leather. They'll send you as many as you want free of charge.

I went through the pain and torture to install one of these once on my S-10. Imagine my frustration when it turned to dust in about a year... I would not touch that product with even with your fingers ever again.

It likely rotted from within - it was put on a GM...

Yes, it is an exact match to both the light and dark gray in my XLT.

I've put one of these on in my old 99 F150 and my 2006 Jeep Commander. They can really kill a guy's hands by the time you are done.

I'm so HAPPY that my 2007 XLT had a leather wrapped wheel. Yay Ford for bringing that back to the XLT!

i had one on my Expy. the OEM leather was wearing off where i hold the wheel so in lieu of cheapo looking covers i bought a wheelskin. i wore a hole through that one right before i sold it.

Hey wasachevyguy,
I have the same color interior and was wondering what colors you used to get it to match that good?
Thanks.
