i've got the 6.5 bed and im not sure if my bike would fit without the tail gate on. the beds length at the floor is 78.8 in. so would the bike fit without the tailgate?
the bikes length is 94.5 in.
the bikes wheel base is 64.5 in.
sits at 682.0 lbs. and with my fat **** at 230 lbs it will total 912lbs ..
heres a pic

one of the kids at my high school has a silverado and one of my friends jumped on his tailgate while it was down and SNAP the wires on both sides broke, and the tailgate has this giant dent where it hit the bumper

Lets just say, I helped a friend with a ginormous fridge last night and the entire weight was on the tailgate for at least a minute + a few buddies at the same time...it didn't break or you guys would have been the first to hear about it lol.
Sometimes when we go out to practice at the mx track Ive had 3 crf 250's in the back and i ride them all up, never had a problem at all. when it snows i throw about 500 pounds of logs in the back, and never had a problem w/ the tailgate holding weight. .

I carried a 550lb steel safe in the back of my screw. I had to slide the safe out, and at one point almost all of that weight was on the very edge of the tailgate in the open position, there was also another person standing on the tailgate with it. The tailgate held up fine to that.
still have yet to have anyone put the kinda weight im talking about on the tailgate but thanks for the reply's guys.
most likely this would be a last resort emergency situation and i just want to make sure the tailgate could handle it..

On more than one occasion I've helped a friend load an FLHTCI Electra Glide Classic into a 2004 XLT. HD's website lists it as 807lb filled with fluids. Tailgate & cables creaked a little but did not give or fail in any way. Go for it.

youll be fine. at no point will the whole weight of you and the bike be on the tailgate. theres always going to be part of the weight thats either going to be in the box or on the ramps transfering to the ground.
Well I put my quad in my truck alot and I know it is about 800lbs. When Im comming up the ramps all the weight is on the edge of the gate and I have never had any issues.
Actually, I have put tons of weight on the gate of every truck I ever had or used. The only one that we ever messed up the gate on was dads ol' 91 F-150. The gate was bent out when he sold it, but 150,000 miles of loading stuff in the truck, often with a forklift and resting heavy things on there for 10 years will do that.

It'll work just fine....trust me!
The only problem I had, was a small dent on the Tail gate when riding over it. Use a piece of plywood to spread the weight evenly.
