I got a Yamaha yz250 to fill up that empy space behind the cab of my truck. Not exactly a "truck mod" but it certainly looks nice back there.

Nice! Im a honda man myself crf250, or the crf450. If you race the yz it will have its work cut out for it w/ four strokes in the 125/250 class.

4 strokes are nice on long tracks, but the smokers will beat'em on short tracks. just depends on what type of terrain that you ride on. I know that much of the industry is heading towards the thumpers, and I know that 4 strokes have less impact on the environment, but the 2 strokes still have a place and are not gonna be phased out anytime in the near future. besides maintenance on the 2 strokes is easier and cheaper.

isnt maintenence on 2 strokes more expensive.......its recomended to rebuild the top ends every year atleast.....

and theres been a few articles about the 2 strokes are being phased out now....honda and yamahas race bikes are now 4 strokes...not all....but soon enough

but i guess if you talk bikes versus quads it could be a little different

True, the recommened topend rebuild on a 2 stroke is about every 100 hours of non competition riding and about 25-45 hours of MX riding. Rebuilding the top-end on a 2-stroke is about as complicated as doing an oil change on a 4-stroke , so even though you need to do it more often, it's SUPER easy. I can tear down my 2 strokes and rebuild them in under 2 hours. With a 4 stroke you have to deal with valve components, cams, timing chains, etc. Cost to rebuild on a 2 stroke is less than $100.00

All of your major manufacturers are still making 2 stroke machines and are selling them in the U.S.

2 Stroke production in the 250cc class
2007 Suzuki RM250
2007 Yamaha YZ250
2007 Kawasaki KX250
2007 KTM SX250
2007 Honda CR250R

Not really sure of the lifespan of the 2 stroke recreational vehicle is in the U.S. but I can sure get my fun in over the next couple of years before I'm forced to convert to a thumper.

You have the Honda 250r listed twice, so I guess your a Honda fan. No doubt those are some great bikes. Lots of fun. You couldnt go wrong with any of 'em. Plus those are more "socially acceptible" and Politically correct.
