FX4 mods

Hey all,

I have already done some simple mods to my truck, and I was curious as to what else I could do to up the HP. Right now I have true-dual Magnaflow sport exhaust X-pipe and an Airraid intake system (which has made a significant difference). The power difference is already nice, but I am looking for more.

What other mods do you all recommend? I have a 2004 FX4 5.4L 3V Scab with about 36,000 miles on it. I have read about the programming tuners, but I am hesitant with those screwing something up with the motor of transmission. Thanks for the suggestions.

Solution to never saying "no problem yet" is the SCT xcal2 with a custom tune.

And the SCT xcal2 with a custom tune for Anthony probably hasn’t had any problem YET either since he still has it. since we can predict the future

Wrong. There have been problems with the xcal2 as well. I have read reports of transmission shifting problems and there have been programming problems with them causing no starts too. You need to do some research before making such broad statements.

For the record i don't have any pcm modifications on the current truck. But i have had the diablosport, edge, sct. and still own the sct just need to get a new tune.

The xcal2 is a piece of hardware, the tunes are directly generated by a dealer. You cannot blame the xcal2 for a failure if the dealer modifies the tune. The "research" you gathered shows maybe someone shouldn't "choose" that tuner.

I can go back and forth all day on why the xcal2 is better than the edge. Can you even monitor STFTs with the edge ?

I was skepotical as well before I got my tuner and now I run the high octane tune. Pays for itself with better mpg. 95% of the time I putt around but when I want the power it is there. Truck is also more "lively". Got on the hwy tonight and had an aggressive new style screw behind me...put my pedal down and left him pretty bad. He's probably wondering...what the hell? why can't I catch him?

Get an Edge and be done with it. . I've had mine on two 2004+ F-150s with no problems to date.

Ditto. Do that with an SCT without PAYING extra to fix your tunes. Maybe anthony should do his homework before telling people which tuner to choose.
