VCT Phasers Again

Since I have almost 36k miles on my truck and not really time to take my truck to the dealer I have some questions on the VCT phasers. Now I know there is a TSB on this also. They will only knock till its get to operating temp which is normal. You can hear them especially at a drive thru. To me they dont seem that loud but a friend has pointed it out before. My question is would it hurt my engine if I just leave them alone or is it damaging the engine slowly or do I need to somehow find time to make a trip to the dealer? Thanks

Nah, the noise doesn't cause any harm to the engine, it's just annoying.

I'm pretty sure the TSB states the phasers are quiet until the reach temp. If yours are making noise at cold, there could be something else.

They're supposed to be quiet until the engine warms up. The PCM locks out variable cam timing until the engine oil temp reaches 140ish degrees or so.
