Truck is in the shop....
Well, my F150 let me down this morning....
I was about 5 of 65 miles into my morning journey and my truck just lost ALL power. It would idle at what looked to be ~300 RPM's, and that's it. If I put it in DRIVE it would just sit there. If I gave it gas nothing would happen. While talking to my Dad, having him prepare to come tow me to Ford (about 10 miles away), I looked at my Edge and it was showing 12.2 volts with engine running. While I still had some juice left I threw the stock tune back into it...
Instead of having my Dad tow me I remembered Ford Roadside! They were out to get me in about 25 minutes, rolled it onto the rollback and off to the dealership we were.
There are three things I want to get taken care of: whatever failed in the electrical system (prob alternator), the rear passenger window makes a very high pitch squeeling when putting it up or down & the flapper door makes a low pitch noise when going from AC to reg AIR.
So far the only thing that makes me mad is the fact that they didn't offer a loaner. My g/f has a car at home, but then she's without wheels. I may go complain a little -- I haven't decided yet. Right now I'm typing this from the "Lounge" area of the dealership.............

They fixed two of the three problems. My truck runs again, and the blender door is silent now!
1) Blender door: all they did was lube it. It wasn't making any noise when the service advisor & technican were in the truck, but they took my word for it when I said it happens randomly. A+ service there...
2) The window squeel: there's no disputing this claim. Everytime you roll the window up or down it makes the most awful high pitch squeel. They didn't fix it tho! The service advisor said they had to take pictures of it, email them to Ford and parts are to arrive late Thursday or early Friday. I'll be dropping back in on Monday to have the new weather stripping stuff installed.
3) The truck runs again! However, I'm raising the BS flag on PART of what the tech said was wrong. I thought the alt went out, the battery drained and the injectors weren't getting enough juice to fire properly. However, the tech said he had to reprogram my PCM based on the K&N intake setup. He said left & right banks were running lean & throwing codes. While taking to him I ensured him I knew how MAF's work, and that the only code I saw before dropping it off was the one saying it has not been thru a drive cycle yet. He said the truck was idling at 701 RPM's when I dropped it off, and the MAF was running ~53% at idle -- fuel pressure was perfect. He said this was due to the K&N filter flowing way too much air for the stock programming. However, he did say he reset the cams...
I know the K&N flows better than stock, but not THAT much better. There are way too many cars & trucks running around with K&N's that are running perfect. Kinda like mine for the past year! I'll buy into the fact that he had to reset the cams.
When it's all said & done, I'd say they treated me right. They kept in touch with me throughout the day, and were more than happy to speak with me upon request.
