Front left dash rattle??
Front left dash rattle??
It only rattles at certain times like in gear with foot on brake or just for that split second when you take your foot off the brake and accelerate. I searched on here, found alot of cowl rattling, so I removed the cowl, still vibrates, rattles. It seems like its coming from the top of the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I had the the cluster surround and the small section in front of that also off and it still rattled. This is driving me nuts and seems to have gotten worse now that its cold outside. I don't know where to look next. Thanks.
The 04 SCAB I had also had this same rattle. It was a sympathetic vibration that only appeared at about 1000-1100 RPM. The 06 SCREW I'm driving now doesn't have that rattle but it does have a minor cowling rattle at certain RPMs.
how about your defrost duct surrounds....mine came without the nylon sheets that keeps plastic on plastic creaking from happening.....mine would just pop sitting there .they just come straight up toward windshield....also I recommend putting sound deadening matt on bottom of dash when it is off. I also siliconed the dash / instrument hood...its way too much hard plastic for a truck!!!
Yeah its a pain because you can't duplicate by pushing, banging, or pulling on anything. Its really irritating because it does it every time you stop and takeoff. I've tried pressing on every part of the upper dash when its vibrating but nothing stops it. Since I had the dash off I could hold the defroster duct and that didn't seem like it was it either. Somebody must have figured this out. Thanks.
Had similar noise(s) coming from dash - or so I thought. Sound came and went away. Dealer looked at it several times - then found it was the sun visor not clipped in tight to its holding clip. Wierd because it sounded like it was coming out of the dash around the top of the sound system , not up by the sun visor. They were as surprised as I was.

Hello guys,
Hey aczr2k, I have the exact same thing going on. I have a 06 with about 17000km on it and as soon as the temperatures dropped below freezing this rattle started. It only happens when I idle or when I first step on the gas. I read the link that was provided but I think that this rattle is coming from somewhere inside the engine bay outside of the cab. This is really annoying especially since this is a new truck and it is otherwise perfect.
If anyone knows what this is and how to fix it that info would be great.
Thanks for bringing this up.

I had the same thing. Finally one day I just pushed down on the corner of the dash closest to the windshield and a clip popped in and the rattle went away. But I had all the same symptoms, worse when cold,at idle with brake on.06 S-Screw.....good luck
I do not know if this is what is happening, but it might help others out there. I used to have a similar issue, when I first started the truck up and when cold, in drive with the brake on, there was a loud rattle or vibration coming somewhere from the front left of my truck. It turned out to be the stock intake tube vibrating where it connects to the inner fender structure. You can use weatherstrip foam or equivalent to fix it. I believe it was pretty common? Hope this helps someone.
You know that kinda sounds like where its coming from is inside the fender well, or in front of the lower door post. I have stuffed rubber underneath the lower cowl, and foam under the coolant reservoir tank lip, still didn't take care of it. I'm going to dig back into it on saturday, because up here in MN it's going to be cold for the next four months or so and don't want to listen to it anymore. Thanks for the input, I'm sure well eventually get it figured out.
MosineeFX4---You are da man.
I started my truck after work today (10F) and it rattled like heck so I left it in gear and put the e-brake on and it was still rattling. Opened the hood and grabbed the intake tube and it stopped. The whole rubber grommet had worked its way out of the fender and it was plastic on steel. Pushed the grommet back in with a screw driver and now its quiet. Hopefully this helps you other guys out. Thanks again!
