Problem after 30k service
Problem after 30k service
I have a 2006 F150 XLT SC 5.4 RWD 6 1/2 bed, 3.73. I purchased this truck brand new in Nov 2005. My truck has been riding like a dream truck for 30,000 miles. My first service was getting the oil/filter changed at 600 miles at the dealer. The truck was taken back to the dealer every 3500 miles for oil/filter change, rotation of tires, and any TSB that needed to be done.
For 30,000 miles, my truck was running smoothly, and zero problems. when it reached 30,000 miles, I took it back to the dealer for the 30,000 mile service. I was told that this was the big one where they did a lot of things such as flush the tranny, pvc, the works, and the price would be $450 to $550.
Now, the truck was running perfectly when I took it in, after paying $528, and getting my truck back, the truck runs rotten. Engine vibrates and runs rough, the tranny shifts differently, and there is a vibration while running. I have taken it back to the dealer 3 times, and will be taken it back tomorrow too.
All this happened AFTER THE 30K SERVICE. If I hadn't taken my truck in, my truck would still be running perfectly.
Any ideas of what could have happened? And where can I go from here. This will be the fourth time taking it back.
Thanks in advance,

Ask them if they tried removing your sparkplugs. When my dealer gave me my truck back after trying to replace the plugs,(they claimed they didn't break any) it had a miss, rough idle and shaking when passing on the freeway. I hope this is not the case in your situation.
take it to another dealer, if they find the problem and it was caused by the
30k being done incorrectly then go back to the original dealer and show them their mistake. if they find the problem and it wasnt caused by the 30k, they are obviously a better service dept. if they can fix your truck on the first attempt, not the 3rd.

Right now, the truck is back at the dealer, they told me they are going to go over everything. Spark plugs, timing, everything.
I told the service manager that I really appreciate all the time and consideration they are putting into trying to fix my truck; however, this is the fourth, or maybe the fifth time I had it back for this problem, and I am not going to keep bringing it back, and be given the truck back in the same condition. There has to be an exit plan. If this truck was riding like this when I took it for a test ride before I purchased it, I would not have purchased it.
Hopefully they will fix it today..
Thanks for the feedback,

Or, being that your truck is an '06, you've got a/an injector(s) acting up.

This time if they give it back to me, and it still the same way, I will take this to the next level and see what happens. I don't even know what options I have at this point.

Not holding one anything against them, just want my truck fixed.

They called me 3 times today, to get a pinpoint on where the problem the is at. They asked me where do I feel the vibration, in the steering wheel, on the floor, or in the seat. I told them ALL THREE!! As soon as I pull out the dealership and ride down the street I feel it..
Hopefully tomorrow they have a solution..
After keeping my truck for a day and a half, they have come to the conclusion that it is the tires. I countered by telling them, they have rotated those tires about 10 times, how come they come up bad now, and I feel the vibration from the engine and tranny? They answer by telling me they have done every check in the book, and nothing is coming up wrong or bad with the engine or tranny.
I told them to ride another truck and compared, they did. I told them to let me ride another truck. They pulled out an 07 XL with 8 foot bed, 4.2, and 16 or 17 inch wheels. No offense but that truck rode like a piece of chit, and I told them I would not ever buy something that rode this bad, unless it was to be a work truck. I told them to ride a truck compariable to my XLT, such as another XLT or Lariet or even a King Ranch. They said they would.
Right now, I am getting ready to do a 160 mile round trip with truck & trailer to drop a bike off. If it smooths out in that ride, good. But, if it doesn't I am going to explore the next level. My truck has 32,000 miles, still under the 36,000 mile warranty. I will consider taking it to another dealer, and or getting in touch with a Ford rep. and go from there. I will give the dealership service shop big props for trying, but be that as it may, I gotta get my truck back to running like it was when I took it back for the 30k service check.

You need to make sure you just didn't have a tire go bad. It happens. Especially after a roatation that puts a bad tire to the front, or vice versa.
I notice a ride difference in my Mich tires when its cold vs hot outside. Much harsher ride in the winter.
good luck with that.
