Fold a cover ???
Fold a cover ???
Just bought one. Wondering, did you have to trim the plastic rail caps for the install? Any other problems or tips with the install. I know I'll have more questions when I start to put it on. So any and all help is most welcomed.

Did you actually receive yours yet? I mean all you have to do is following the instructions, it's pretty easy!
I got the 2-panel Advance folding cover on my Screw. Nothing needed trimmed, just install the clamps on the inside of the bed rails and install the weatherstripping on top of the rails. Very simple, nothing to worry about man!

Tips? Have someone help you carry it. Bulky sucker. That's about it. Took me about twenty minutes the first install. Putting it back on after pulling it for really big cargo takes about four or five minutes.
It lays on the plastic caps. Not the best looking thing about it, but not as bad as a tarp type cover.
Been using mine for just over two years. I put a door lock actuator under the front panel, set to 'trunk' signal. Best mod ever, as I get in the back at least once a day. The key system that comes with it is a drag. Really. When you have the key on your ring, you drag the ring around when you turn the lock. This can make marks on the panel. So I just used the key separate, kept it in the door pocket. But since I added the keyless I haven't touched the key.

Yes, I already got the thing. It looks pretty straight foward on the install, I was just wondering if anyone cut back the plastic and put it directly onto the metal. I would like to see the remote hook up that Chris Adams did. That seems to be a cool idea, just would like to see how you set it up.
Thanks All,

Adding the door actuator is about as simple a job as you can get. The only 'hard part' is you need a keyless entry/alarm that has a trunk feature. I first used a Crimestopper keyless, and later put in a Powercode Ford Deluxe alarm/keyless. Both times I just set the trunk setting to send power to the door lock actuator. It's takes a try or two to get the rhythm. You push the trunk button with one hand and lift when you hear the noise. If you lift too soon it won't release, lift to late and the actuator pops back to lock. Sounds harder than it is.
You could also hook it to a hidden button; you could put a spring under it so that when you pushed the button it would pop up.
By using the trunk command though, you have safety as the trunk signal doesn't get sent when the key is on. Saves you accidentally unlocking the front panel at 70 on the freeway...
