Dome light question

My 2005 XLT 4wd S-Cab's dome light sometimes does not come on when driver's side door is open. Sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesn't.

Also, i don't think this would be related, but the "Passenger Air Bag Off" Light rarely comes on. Sometimes it will come on if the the seat is all the way forward, but rarely if the seat is all the way back. It lights up upon startup then goes off. I'm fairly certain it is a sensor

There is a light ticking noise that seems to be coming from the engine area. I've done research and it does not seem to be as loud as a phaser or injector problem. Any ideas?

One last thing..when I go to start my truck and I let off the key and it doesn't start, (my key still in the run position) The truck will turn over but will not crank. As soon as I switch the key off and attempt to start again, it will crank no problem.

Only have 19K miles on truck

i dont know what to tell you about the dome light, tick, or crank issue.
the airbag sensor, i can tell you about.
if no one is in the pass. seat, the truck knows this, and DOES NOT illuminate the light. if i put my laptop, or a few bags of groceries on the seat, the sensors know that something is on the seat, but determines it is underweight for proper/safe deployment of the airbag in a collision, so it DOES light up.
the sensor is weight dependent:
0 lbs = no light
5-60 lbs (or around there) = light
60 > = no light

my 04 has the same problem with the dome light only coming on sometimes when the driver door is open. my truck also ticks and makes various other annoying noises but i've learned to look the other way because no matter what you buy, there will always be something to annoy us car/truck guys.

If the truck is running...the light will not come on.

Yep, I've got the dome light problem too. At first I thought it had something to do with the aftermarket alarm I have (Clifford Matrix RSX), but when disabled it does the same thing. I'd say 1 out of every 20 door openings or so it happens (regardless of which door is opened). And if I close and re-open, it comes on. Kind of annoying, but lots of other stuff to worry about.

Thanks for the input guys. Glad to know that my airbag sensor was actually just working properly. After setting something that weighed 10 pounds the light did come on.

The dome light is like yall said...about 1 every 20 times or so doesn't come on.

The light ticking of the engine is annoying to me. I may be just the way the engine sounds but it sure annoys me. Engine still runs great, good power, acceleration, and towing power.

What oil filter do you use? I could hear something at startup especially when I had a Fram filter in there.

motorcraft fl-820s i believe. Its what ford recommends along with Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic. I just changed oil a week ago today in it. I've heard that switching oil brands might reduce the tick and might eliminate it but i dont know.

Something else happened this morning too. When i cranked my truck up i heard this racket coming from the left side of my engine. Lasted for a second at the most than quit. Any ideas? It has done it three times since i've owned the truck...19K miles

the nose happened again this morning on startup. It sounds like it is coming from the left side of the engine. I dont really know how to describe the sound. Sounds like something is not lubricated? After less than a second it goes away and doesn't do it anymore on startup. Could oil be draining from my engine? Do i have a faulty anti-drainback valve on my motorcraft oil filter? Or is it something i need to have looked at
