I know what you're talking about as this happened to me twice before I had my truck tuned with an XCal2 and custom tunes. In each instance I didn't floor it, but gave it 3/4 of the throttle to get moving in a hurry and the truck did absolutely nothing. It was just the normal delay before taking off, I held that throttle position for about 5-10 seconds and nothing happened, just like the truck had turned off. I released the throttle thinking my truck had turned off and suddenly the engine came back to life and started moving forward.

I'm thinking it has to be a programming issue because I've had the truck tuned with custom tunes on the XCal2 and the problem hasn't resurfaced.

They were just blowing smoke up your rear about telling you it's normal. Sure a delay of a second or two on these trucks is normal because of the drive-by-wire. However, long extended delays where RPMs drop below normal operating RPMs is not normal.

Kind of a no-sequitur,as it's the PCM controlling the throttle, as far and as fast as it feels like, not the driver.

Yep.

A custom tune addresses this unwanted F150 standard feature once and for all. Amazing difference in throttle response.

Mine too. I always hear "Slow down, jeez!" And that's only once I hit 55, which I might add takes 5 minutes in my truck.

REALLY? Wow ,I thought the excal would get rid of the first gear thing but did not...I think it is only on 4wds cause others posted they did not have that problem....I have learned to live with it , no big deal just different.

But I am wondering if it is just a simple switch on the shifter or at the trans??? Oh ,btw, nice truck !! Was your front sway bar still connected with those cheesy links? I have replaced mine already due to rattling/clunking noise going over painted lines on the street at 5-10 mph!!

Dealer called earlier said it was the fuel pump gone bad becuase of back pressure from the clogged fuel filter which is now replaced also. I just hope this fixes it. To me this does sound like a fuel pump problem what do you guys think? The only thing is when you get down on it it wouldnt go no faster that doesnt seem like a fuel pump to me? I thought they either go out or work 100%.

Mine does it too. Plus if I ease on the gas at about 50, when it shifts down it kind of boggs down right before the downshift, it drives me insane. I have got to get a tuner to fix what Ford won't. I took it to the dealer and they of course said they couldn't duplicate the problem (Famous substitute for we don't want to waste money or our time on you and we hope you go away and don't come back so we don't have to.) Just ralized how old this post was, but atleast I used the search!

I've got the XCAL2 and an '04 SC 4X4. No more hesitation at all. Can't say enough good stuff about it. Of course, Troyer'll tell ya.... stay on top of the air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensors and the MAF sensor. I did it all and my truck pretty much tears it up vs. prior to the tunes. NO HESITATION.
