Poor performing 5.4 3V

Plus, its a top heavy SUV, its the very last thing that should be built for performance. IMO
I've got a friend who has an '05 GMC Envoy (similar platform), and she keeps complaining that it's falling apart. If it wasn't for the fact that she gets paid at Nissan to drive fleet vehicles home, she probably would have dumped it from something else. On the other hand, I drove an uncle's Envoy that seemed to drive fine, but it seems crowded compared to full-size trucks and it didn't get that great gas mileage compared to my F-150. He's looking for something else as well.
If you don't need a truck for it's real usage, then enjoy the Trailblazer.

I have a 1999 Expedition with the 5.4 2V (128,000 miles) and it is a far better performer... all kinds of torque, passing power... just an all around better performer. The F-150 is so sluggish - feels like it can't get out of its own way. If I stab the gas, it takes a good 2 seconds to figure out what I have done (thanks drive by wire) and then downshift. When cruising on the freeway, it always feels the need to downshift going up any slight grade or giving some gas to pass. I thought this new motor was supposed to be better than the 2V... so far, I think it sucks. 15,000 miles and a Magnaflow exhaust have done nothing to open this thing up. I went and drove a 2007 Expedition (5.4) to see what its power level was and was disappointed in it too. It had more torque, but still not what I thought it was going to be. Again, driving on the freeway, it was dropping out of OD on slight grades or even just passing. I know a chip would help, but I also think it should have come from the factory better than this.
At this point, I am ready to just get rid of it and get a Trailblazer SS!

same as on the highway when i get it up to speed, i hit to cruise control and it doesnt shift once..
and i have PLENTY of passing power.. dispite the fact that i'm running the biggest tires i can without a lift kit. and i have 3.55 gears.. and i have the "SlowBastard" exhuast..
who knows maybe my K&N drop in really makes that much of a difference..
i kind of agree..and not too... my buddy has a 99 150 and he has and intake exhuast and 35" tires... he SMOKED the S... out of me when i first got my truck. 500.00$ later well lets say he was looking at my tailights not my heads.
spend the extra cash. on magnaflow and K&N and then write another post on how much your truck is better

You can put all the bolt-ons you want, but in the end it’s STILL A 5000lbs + truck. Plain and simple. It “AINT” going to be fast. Period. Accept it.
Now, dump four grand or more in a power adder (turbo/super charger) and it will definitely wake it up, but if it’s serious performance you're looking for, a truck (especially 4x4) was the wrong decision. It literally cracks me up to the point of tears when half the peeps on this forum post bragging threads about racing their truckl. A majority of those people still live with their mom and dad too. Solid!
I’ll admit there are some seriously BAD-A$$ F150’s on this forum, BUT they all have a blown motor too (blown as in forced induction, NOT broke, LOL). They also have very tasteful appearance mods to boot. I can’t remember their screen names, but they know who they are. Then again, they have more in their truck than I do in my Stang, and I can confidently say they are not 10second trucks. On the flip side, they have ALL the amenities I wish my Stang had (PL, PW, AC, CC…).
My F150 should weight approximately as much as yours and I think it has very ample power. Keep in mind I’m used to a 10 second street car too.

Thanks for everyones response, but I do want to clarify a few things. First, I do own a 2002 Lightning tuned by Troyer that runs low 12's.... that is my toy. I bought the King Ranch to replace my 99 Expedition as a tow vehicle / daily driver. When I bought the King Ranch, I was expecting it to be much more than it was... plus my test drive did not reveal all of the drivability issues that I have today. I know it is not a hot rod, nor do I want it to be. I just figured for $44K I would have a decent truck that would be ok to drive and I would not have to put money into for performance. I already put a Magnaflow exhaust on it, and it did wake up some, but another $400-$500 out the window for a tuner is out of the question. I did not buy it to throw more money at it. Ford should of had it right from the factory.
As far as the Trailblazer SS goes, I haven't driven one yet, so I don't even know if that is what I would go with. I just want something with the right feel for my everyday driving.
