Angry Ram Air Hood Trouble

For those of you that have had Ram Air Hoods installed...did you have any trouble?? My body shop just called me and they said that it sits up to high from the fender...about a half inch or something.

Just wondering if this has happened before or if everyone else's lined up perfectly...

when u buy an aftermarket hood these are the things u have to deal with sometimes, if it is really bad and it back but u will need to do some finnagalling probably to get it to fit good.

I guess this quote from the website means nothing then?? "It is constructed from an OEM engineered material for a perfect fit and finish every time."

Thats the fun part of these hoods... they come with fixed bolts and the brackets on our 05 don't have any adjustment in them either so any adjustment would require modifing the brackets. Ours fits pretty well level with the fenders but has a varing gap up both sides that is larger than the stock hood. Still looks good and sets our truck apart from most in our area.

We had problems with the paint & shipping damage on ours and after many calls and emails we were able to work an amicable solution and partial refund. Hopefully you will be able to do the same.

Well, they are shipping a new one...I guess I don't see how the result is going to be any different if it comes from the same mould. I love the hood so I am hope I am wrong.

No! They are going to ship it directly to the body shop, and they are arranging to have the current hood picked up. I hate this crap though! Why can't stuff just work...kinda like my Mac! It just works!

Mine also sits a little high on the corners when it is cold outside. Since it is made of OEM plastic the hood actually expands and contracts. When it's cold outside and your engine compartment is hot, the underside of the hood expands causing the corners to push out and up a little. However when the sun beats on it ,the top expands and pushes the corners down. During the day mine sits perfectly level with the fenders and at night it's about 1/4" higher. I had to reposition the hood latch several times to get it right.

I thought about sending mine back for a better fit also but I already had it painted by a body shop.

As far as the gap between the fenders mine were a little off also but it wasn't the hood it was the fenders. I loosened them up and shifted them a little and they line up great now.

Good Luck with the hood. Let us know what happens. I thought they were all supposed to be made out of a mold with a perfect fit also.

You can move it up and down, just loosen the two screws that hold it in place. I also had to readjust the two corner hood stops.

I was close to ordering one but because of all the small issues some have had and the cost I decided to just get the AF1 CAI. If I'm going to pay over 1000 I want it perfect the first time

Well, Hood #2 arrived yesterday. Same problem as the first...the body shop said it was a little better than the first hood. I went out and looked at it... totally unacceptable...it wasn't even close.

Where to now?? This is about the only aftermarket hood that I like.

I can't understand why it doesn't fit...I've seen at least 30-40 other F150s with this hood on... My truck can't be different from all of those.
