Bed lengths for scabs?

i'mm looking for a truck to purchase soon, and was looking at a few pics online in the "modded" thread. i want a Scab as i dont like being the bus for all my friends with my expy and i'd like a bed longer than the 4' that comes with the screws. alright, here's the question, are the only two bed options that come with the scab 6 and 8? i think alrsdup's truck is perfect but damn his bed looks shorter than 6'.

There are three bed lengths, 5.5', 6.5', and 8'. 6.5' is the most popular by what I see on the road.

sweet. i didn't know that you could get the 5.5 with the scab. is that what's on screws? i haul lumber and plywood sometimes, but i like the look of a shorter bed. maybe the 6.5 would be alright. i can't stand a regular cab with a 10' bed hanging off the back. i know they're for work mostly, and functional, but damn...

You won't have any problems hauling plywood sheets around with the 6.5'. Just drop the tailgate, tie 'em down, take off...conservatively of course.

Yes, the 5.5 is typical on the screws. Starting with the 2006 model year you could get a screw with a 6.5'.

I have no problem hauling 4x8 sheets of ply wood in my 03 5.5 bed. Put the gate down, and the sheet come right up to the end of the tailgate. Just perfect for me.

I've got the 5.5' bed too. Good thing, or else my wife would never be able to park it.

That's the problem, by getting the short bed, she drives it.

The last time i let my wife drive my F-150 was when i had an 2001. She hit one of those cement filled posts that they have next to stores. Cost
$ 7,000.00 to fix.
That was pretty much the last time she drove my F-150.
I got her an Explorer, she is a happy camper now.
