Just had the TSB on my brakes
I just had the TSB on my brake rotors and calipers. There is about 12k on the truck. At about 9k I felt a faint shudder in the brakes. This was with the brakes hot, very slow speed stop. It got slightly worse every month, mostly only noticeable when slow stopping at the bottom of a hill, something I do most days several times. After about 11k miles it was noticeable on most stops. The steering wheel would vibrate back and forth about an inch on hard braking.
Called the local Ford shop (don’t know why I bother) and they explained that the brakes were never covered past 12 months. I’ve had my truck for 25 months.
They said the rotors were the same.
Rather than argue I just hung up and called Citrus Ford in Ontario.
They told me to bring it in for an inspection. Didn’t have to show them the TSB, they knew about it. They inspected and test drove the truck, confirmed the warped rotors.
They got the parts and 90 minutes later I had new calipers, brakes, rotors, wheel bearings. The bearings come with the rotors on this model, FYI.
Went to pick up the truck and the pedal went almost to the floor. The service writer told me they would be OK after a few minutes, that this was pretty normal on this job.
I wasn’t too sure, but he was right.
By the time I drove across the parking lot, (slowly) they were fine.
I’ve run it fairly hard for 65 miles, taking the back road through the hills, and the brakes are great, at least as good as the day I bought the truck, possibly better.
Looking at the rotors they look thicker than the stock ones, but that may just be the color difference. I didn’t think to measure them before having the job done.
Anyone needing this done, if your dealership wants to play games call another dealership. Some want your business, and are willing to take care of you. Some don’t.
I’ve had things done at Citrus Ford four times. The service was perfect each time.
I have to drive an extra 40-50 miles each way but I’ve never regretted it. A good dealership makes all the difference.

When you talk about dealers,I just had a bad experience with the Ford Dealer in Reno.NV.Went in for a check engine light and after 8.5 hours they had changed the oil and had not even looked at the light which is what it went in for. This is after booking a week ahead.Am now considering my options as there are not to many dealers around here.I look forward to the day I can find a dealer that I can trust.
The rotors may look thicker, but it's because the spacing of the fins in teh center is larger. They should be the same thickness as they were originally.
The calipers should be a revised design as well.

Your absolutly right when you say call another dealer, when my tail lights were leaking (enough to eventually take some of the chrome backing off in some places) one dealer told me he had to take pictures and download it to Ford for authorization, "which could take weeks".
Took it to another dealer, and they replaced them no questions asked.
Makes no sense to me.
