Good Ole' EFAN Problems

I bought some EFANS from the group buy a few months ago. They have been installed and the fans work great but I keep having problems with the controllers. I used the controllers that came with the kit first and the fuse melted. The Second set melted too. Then I bought a controller from Mad enterprise and my fans stopped working one day. Glad it was not too hot. Im thinking about selling the fans and going back to stock crappy fan with the ugly shroud. Anybody else have problems.

you sure you wired it right and your not getting a short that is causing the melted fuse holders? because i dont see how that could be the controler, now them just stop working that could be the (mad) controler

the melted fuse problem is a known problem due to amp load of the fans coming on and off at 100%. the mad controller uses a circuit breaker that is suppose to reset. maybe that one quit working. i am going to be building a fan set up similar to the mad set up and i am going to be using the dc controller. it allows the fans to come on in %'s.

Sounds like bad connections, maybe bad ground, did you add any wire like for ground, ect.ect...

I'm just finishing mine this evening.... I added 10ga for ground... I also cut all crimp connectors off, then solder and shrink wrap everything....

I had to wire in the controller to two 60 amp relays instead of the controller going directly to the fan. Seemed like once a summer the controller relay would burn up on a hot texas summer day.

what i want to know is what kind of sensors those are on the mad controller. i want to use one on my condensor to keep my fans from coming on on the freeway. right now they are on a toggle that cuts of the compressor signal when i am on the freeway.

It looks like the relay for the a/c sensor can be bought from a electrictronics parts store. Everything is wired allright. I spent hours on it and have been crimping things since I was a kid. No burnt up wiring and the grounds are good. I think I just ahve bad luck. Im glad I kept my shroud and fan. Im going to do the uninstall this weekend. there goes 400 bucks for everything. Plus, i never did see a MPG increase.

no offense but it sounds like you guys are using some lower quality controllers. ive had my flexalite for 3 years now . . i always park outside and ive parked my black truck two summers in the texas sun.

oh by the way, the flexalite fuse holder melting issue only applies to their older whole kit setups, anybody who tells you the individual controller being sold has a high failure rate is either full of **** or cant wire worth a damn

cooling yoru vehicle has got to be one of the most important components to proper and safe function . . i dont understand why people sometimes skimp

actually on the flex controllers there were a rash of controllers that would burn up alonfg woith the fuse holders. i had to replace an awful lot of them when i was a flex dealer. i think they have a handle on it now.

oh yay are there any names on the temp sensors on the mad controllers.

Have you spoken to Mike at Mad? I had an issue where I goofed up on the fans and he was able to talk me through the trouble shooting to get it fixed, he's a real good guy. Fans work like champs now.

Key to Preventing E Fan Problems!!!!!!!!!

Do not mount your controller near any type of heat source. Pick a location that is shielded from heat. I mounted my controller behind the passenger side head light and have not had a problem. Texas Heat and this summer we had like a month of 100 degree or better days and no problems with my fans.

flexalite had a large recall on the model 270 units.

im talking about the VSC's they sell individually. ive talked a lot of friends into buying them and i havent had any issues besides user error.

i only replaced a couple for the 270 models. mostr of mine were the gm 295 and 292 kits. man them people were burnin my phone up then. i still have some friends that are running the real old controllers with no problems and some of the newer ones. i do honestly believe that some of it was the wiring for sure. i have seen pictures of some that would make even an amature kringe.
man all this talk about fans has gotten me excited over redoing mine. the rf86 fan off ebay is on its way. i have the dc controller from my previous install. and now my mad sensors are on the way.cant wait to get mien all back together.
