I would buy at least 2 amps...one for the speakers and one for the subs. 5 channels amps can get costly.

Get just front speakers for now and use the money spent on rears for your amps or better quality speakers. Out of those 2 speaker sets, I would go with the $136 set (man, I can't believe I just said to buy Infinity speakers). I wouldn't buy Infinity speakers at all...but if those are the ones you want.

I understand Rainbow is over your price limit. Inifintys (ies) have really harsh tweeters and lack in midbass...two things you look for in components. I would go with a pair of Rainbow coaxials instead of a pair of Infinity components...but that's just me.

Hey Devin,
I have MB Quartz in my doors, LOVE THEM, the sound clarity is awsome. I just need a new amp so i can put my old and back on the door speakers and the new amp on the sub.

Components use seperate tweeters. Coaxles have the tweeters mounted to the speaker itself.

Im getting my stuff installed tomorrow finally!

Now thats a first...

I would buy Polk before Infinity, I had 6812 front and back, got them off Ebay, sound like sh$t, replaced with Polks, the Infinity's sounded so bad, I would not even resell them... I tossed in the dumpster at work after three other employees would not take them for FREE......

You could build a box similar design to mine. Ive got a local friend that i may help him build a box for his 05 STX ExtCab. I built all my box by myself and its not that hard. Probably the hardest thing for you is gonna be finding another spare 40% seat from someone. I used this site to find my 40% seat. Pics in thread in sig....

Make me an offer by email and i might consider building you a box for yours with similar design. And you are local enough that you wont have to ship it too!

I hate seeing you spend the money on this...but do what you have to do. I would seriously build a box before I bought that one. You can do it for about $40. If you lived in SoCal I would build it for you. I got extra MDF laying around I need to get rid of before moving into the new house.

I know I keep stretching your budget, but this is what I would do:

HU - whatever you want
Components - Rainbow SLC 265 $230
Component Amp - whatever you want (I've got a Zapco ref 350.2 that would be perfect)
Sub - SI BM 10" $240 (build a single sub box)
Sub Amp - whatever you want (Alpine has a good following and are reliable, like maybe this one)
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ALPINE-MRP-M...QQcmdZViewItem

I would not worry about rear fill (speakers) right now. Use that money for better quality components up front. You'll be happier in the long run. As of matter of fact...the Zapco 350.2 (mentioned above) and the Rainbow SL 165 (coaxials) that are listed in my signature are not even installed and I'm not sure if I will install them.

Component speakers (like Thump said) have a seperate tweeter and mid. They also have a passive xover to for proper xover settings and slopes. Coaxials have the tweeter mounted on the mid and usually don't come with a passive xover for proper xover settings and slopes. All in all, components sound better.

I just think you would be happier with this set-up...but w/o comparing to 2 different set-ups you'll never know. But then again...that's why you are asking us.

Bry...im learning so much from you its crazy. Thanks bud...question what materials exactly do you need to build this box? Do you have any measurements i could use? Why is this particular sub so much for just a single?

Materials for a box...3/4" MDF (bare minimum 5/8"). Prefab boxes are made of 5/8", but the norm is 3/4"...it would probably be 1" if it were more readily available. You also need coarse drywall screws and heavy duty liquid nails.

Of course, a saw, drill, etc. As for measurements...maybe, I have a prefab box sitting in my garage, I could get measurements off that. I wouldn't be able to get the measurements until Friday evening when I get home.

Funny how you think the BM is expensive. lol I think it is inexpensive. My MAGs were $750 for the 2...and that was cheap...they usually go for the over $900 for a pair. Anyway, SI is known in the car audio community as some of, if not, the best SQL subs on the market. Of course, everyone has their own opinion, but I've been around for a while and I agree they are...at least the best I've heard. The SI BM is the little brother of the SI MAG...true quality IMO.

I'm also not the only one...there are a few of us in the audio forums here that have MAGS (from SI). I doubt those guys would get rid of theirs either.
