Those that have the 4pin and 7pin sockets on the hitch. Do you need both and how can you adapt a 4pin only to do both?

What are you asking? Different trailers have different pins..usually a normal flat bed trailer would only use the 4 pin plug...but if you tow a trailer that has exterior or interior lights or a toy hauler they use the 7 pin.

My truck came with a 4 pin and I ordered a 7 pin conversion kit as I plan on pulling a TT. This kit will replace the OEM wiring with a 7 pin only socket. This means that there won't be two different socket styles available, only a 7 pin. So I wanted to know if the dual adapter sockets, 4 and 7 pin, which a lot of you have is OEM or did you buy a kit to provide both a 4 pin and 7 pin sockets? After looking at all the neat hitch plugs and noticing the double electircal plugs 4 and 7 pin, I started to think I may have ordered the wrong kit. But I see from the various products that are available on line that they make 4 pin adapters that plug into the 7 pin socket, so I guess it won't be a problem after all.

The kit I ordered from etrailer.com still lets you use the 4 pin socket. It just splices in the 7 pin and leave the 4.

I did the same and purchased these...

18247 T-One 7-Pole Harness
20012 Mounting Bracket For 7 Way OEM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The equipment finally arrived and after opening and reading the instructions I found out that the 4 pin connector is retained. Now I need to figure out which bracket will work with the 4 and 7 pin connector. Do you have a links to the right connector?
