What is this?

Saw this on Ford's site:



What is the thing with that I have circled?

Also, my XLT with the captains chairs and console has the same cubbyhole in the dash, without whatever is circled in the above picture. I wish they put the pop out cup holders there even though I have the console cupholders, never can have too many. The cubbyhole is pretty useless because of the angle its at...

I really like the silver.

I want to do something like that and change the four dash pieces to gloss black along with the wood grain.

Yeap.

Note that's the dash from an XL or STX as well - no tach, no cruise.

Actually, with Ford's Personal Safety System, the airbags shut off by themselves via a weight sensor in the seat, so I say it's not a de-activation switch.

doesn't the reg cab have a deactivation switch?

and i think the cruise is on the steering wheel.

Its probably there on the single cab trucks so that you can cut off the airbag if you strap down a child seat. I could see the weight of a child and a tightly belted in seat being enough to activate the airbag.

that IS the dash of an XL not an STX and that IS an air bag shut off switch..

and no it does not have cruise control

lol you got me in the middle of my edit!

i just went and got my 2007 F-150 book from my dealer so thats how i know its an XL dash
