High Idle surge on startup??

yes this is normal, its like the old days of carbs with the choke on it would idle high till u kicked it down. i know alot of u are young here and never had a carberated vehical man i feel old

first post! wooo ... anywho we have an '04 durango that does the same thing. but my 05 f-150 does it too. the durango doesnt do it as bad...

I was just messin with you. 30 isn't bad at. Just as long as you feel young. I know how you feel I am real worried about turning 20 at the end of the month

worried about 20? i wish i was 20 again if i knew then what i know now i would have done things over totally different in my life. any way this place makes me feel young

Mine does it also -04- BUT in along run isnt it going to kill the pistons ,short life dont ya think

What would you rather have? That, or not being able to ever start your truck from cold, and having to walk, cycle or take public transit ?

Cold-start fuel enrichment and corresponding short-term high idle (by allowing extra air past the throttle plate) are a requirement of all gasoline engines to ensure a cold-start is gonna be successful.

There's always Google if you want to learn more ...

Be thankful it isn't a carb
