Rear Axle Seal Leaking
Rear Axle Seal Leaking
I got my gears done about two months ago a month later I took it in because there was a slow drip at the bottom and the put a fresh seal and new oil in there now it is doing the same thing. Did they put a chitty seal or is it because I have the shift pressure turned up to high? I really like my shift pressure being high. Any help is good.

It's a know problem with out rear end housings. But you are the first post I have seen when there is a problem after a gear install. The seals are bad for the start so during a gear change they are replaced (should be) which generally eliminates the problem..

My differencial has dark oil sepage marks on both sides of the rear seals.
Not close to a drip or anything.
Does anyone think this is a problem that I should have the service dept. look at before my warranty is up in 2 months

if i took this into my service department they would just laugh at me. since they are aftermarket gears. i think i am going to just keep an eye on and change the diff. cover little later down the line make sure the seal is clean myself and put royal purple in.

They prolly bent the cover a little when removing it to drain the gear oil. I would take it apart. Clean both surfaces realy good til they shine. Throw some blue rtv gasket maker on there and give it about 15 minutes to setup and then reinstall the cover and torque to factory spec. Add fluid and hopefully no more leaks.
Took mine in to have 'em change rear diff fluid and put on my Mag-Hytec diff cover--same thing. Covered under warranty. I have changed gears to 4.56 amd have a s/c that was running with boosted line pressure for firm shifts. Hope this won't be an ongiong problem.
