Question on Removing Stock Fan...
I'm still painting my EFan Shroud, thought I would see just how tight that stock fan is... well, I put a 12" pipe wrench on it, took a 2x4 board about 30" long, put it against the pipe wrench and nailed it with a 32oz ball peen hammer, six times, fan pully was slipping... needless to say, she didn't budge.... I was going towards the Pass Side standing in front of the truck and to my left facing the front of the truck...
Am I going in the right direction???? trying to turn it off towards the pass side fender???
I know there has been so misprinted material on which way it turns off the pully.... thought I would ask someone that already removed is rascal ...

I think it is just a right hand thread. I forget which way I turned mine.
Try this. Look at the fan and see which direction it turns or look at the pitch of the blades to see the direction it would spin to draw air. The hub on the water pump will tighten itself into it the fan nut. If that makes any sense, I know what I am trying to say, just can't figure out how to put it here.
If the fan spins clockwise from the front it should be righthanded, if it spins CCW then it would be lefthanded.

I was planning getting a rental tool from the parts store, just wanted to see if it was real tight, it is.... then I got to wondering if I was loosening it the right direction...

If you don't want to go buy/rent the tool, there's a quick and dirty way to remove the pulley. Disclaimer applies - anything happens to your truck and/or to yourself, don't sue me and/or send me hateful E-mail.
Get a long rolling head prybar, or something else with a point on it that you can use as a chisel. Take aim at the corners of the hex on the fan clutch nut and strike the prybar sharply with your biggest hammer. This will leave a few marks on the hex of the clutch, but that doesn't really matter if you aren't gonna reuse the clutch. Eventually, it will break loose. ETA - Oh, and you want to do this while the serpentine belt is still on the engine. Helps hold the pulley stationary while you're swingin'.
'Course, I don't recommend this method except for dire circumstances, but there it is if you want to try it.

I remember the time I had removing mine. I didn't get that special tool. I wrestled with it for a few hours before finally breaking it loose. it can be done without the tool but it is not easy. I can't remember exactly what I did to finally break it loose. I think I jamed up the pully with some pry bar or something. good luck

There are fan clutch wrenches that fit on the end of an impact hammer, kinda like a big chisel except with a wrench on the end of it that fits the hex on the fan clutch.

when to Autozone and just picked up the tool, fan and factory shroud was on the ground in 3 minites.. test fitted the custom shroud and reinstalled the factory fan without a shroud for the time being...

Get one of those big paws around that thing and give it a twist or two...

before getting the pipe wrench..fan wrenchs got it off or I would say "send your 13 year old daughter to get mine loose"
