Bumping this up to show my ARE LSII installed today.

Looks like a dream, fits like a glove and has certainly added "that" finishing touch.

Looks very good! Can't beat ARE for top-notch quality and fitment in my opinion. Nice mod!

Has anyone seen a decent hoist or lift system, preferably ceiling mounted to allow one person to remove an ARE or other hard tonneau from an F150? Trying to do it when my wife is the only help is an extremely painful experience..... Thanks

That is the second reason, after price, that I bought my Undercover. It is ~50 lbs. and 2 people (even myself and my 12 yr. old son) can easily take it off and hang it on the garage wall for storage. Plus you don't have to wax that huge surface, just hose off the dirt and bird poo and it looks brand new again. By the way, the member with user name MYST devised a hoist for his hard tonneau and had pics of it on his web site. He didn't post instructions for it due to liability concerns but you can probably figure it out by looking at the pics. Below is the link to his page for the tonneau hoist: http://users.cableaz.com/~kinzerford...eau_Hoist.html

Figured I'd dust this thread off again and show mine!

Mine came in last Friday... I am very impressed with it and it really completes the look I wanted...

I am starting to turn heads now when I drive by.

Check it out!

I have had several of the A.R.E. LSII lids. None have ever costed more than 820.00

I see that you sold and installed ARE"s. I read your post from last year and need some advise. I am going to get the ARE Lid for my F-150 2007 King Ranch crew with 5 1/2 bed , but I am still not sure weither to get the LSX or the LSII. Is the LSX really worth the extra money? I see there is added extra fiture - Modular Baserail with Weather Resistant Seal plus the front scissor hinge. Does the LSII have the Automotive Fit and Finish as the LSX. Is the difference in fit worth it??
Thanks
Bruce

bruce,

both lids are very nice. most people wouldnt be able to tell the difference. there are very subtle differences that they each have, and if you want a close, tight fit, either will be good choices. but, if you want to go that extra step and have the e-locks, and a bit more 'fit & finish' go with the lsx, the main difference between them is the front 2 inches. the lsx's have a different scissor hinge that opens like an 'x' that lifts it up before tilting, as the lsii tilts from just the gas shocks in the back of the bed, hence the flare so it doesnt hit the paint. the lsii is still one of the best selling lids on the market, and with ARE you really cant go wrong. to make things even more difficult, they offer a e-lock option on the lsii, so if that's a deciding factor dont throw it out just yet.

here's a quick explanation...

Smile less confused

Thanks,
I see the difference and with the e-lock being a option on the LSII its not really worth the extra for the LSX. Thanks for the diagram.

Does ARE make the cover for the flareside bed?
