Gears.?

Are you all changing gears with your lift and tires ?

Or are some of you still running stock gears? with like 35-37 inch tires?

I i really dont know if i would really need to re gear with 37s? bfg baja's...
im just wondering cuz i hear alot of people getting lifts , and nothing about their gear setups? or is just a norm to regear?

daver

It's typical to regear, but people often go overkill with gears in my opinion. Then again it's usually best for their application, in town. I myself like the highway performance I have right now with 3.73's or I'd regear because my low end is terrible. I do a lot of highway driving @ 55mph and get great mileage at that speed. 4.56's would be what I'd go with if I were to regear...based on personal preference. You certainly don't have to regear, it's up to you. The taller the gear ratio the easier it becomes to break which is a topic not often mentioned.

I never changed gears. With everything I did with programmer and Intake my truck runs better than stock.

i went with 4.88's. i wanted to take the stress of the tranny and to give myself a little extra umph. i got 15 mpg doing between 85-95 on the way home. i eventually want to go a little higher and maybe 38.5's.

edit: i had 3.55's before so it was essential to regear

4WP. Don't know the exact cost, it was all a package deal. I could look at the print out but I got a deal cause I know the manager.

Entrevino, pull your diffs yourself and you save a ton. I heard it was about $7xx to get front and rear done if you pull'em for benchwork.

josiah i was just wondering where he went because i saw that he lived in sa where i got my work done at. I already have 4.88's i think it came out to around 1000. My seal was leaking so i took it back and they replaced it after my initial break-in so I got a pretty good deal. I think it is leaking again, I wonder if it has to do with hard driving and having the shiftpoints set so high...
