Chrome Step Bar???

I have these on my 2006 FX4 SuperCrew and truth be told they already look like crap! I have 1600 miles on the truck and I do go to the beach but I also wash my truck. The only thing I can figure is that it's the salt. But I still can't believe they look this bad. They look as though they have pits all over them. ? is, can they be polished and if not what does everyone suggest for a replacement? I am not going to keep these on the truck if their gonna do this. I live in the Northeast and it's either going to be salt from the beach or from the snow covered winter roads so they have got to go if I can't keep them looking better. Thanks for any response.

I would think that would be a warranty issue on an 06. But if your going to change them out anyways maybe go with stainless steel bars.

I have the tubed, chromed step bars. Even living in Central Calif. some constant spaltter gets upon my step bars. With my mud flaps on all fours, and especially the fronts, the splatter is minimized.

I lived in Wash DC and I feel the snow-road salt added to the sand you drive through is a deterant to chrome life. Just sitting in the salt air at the beach without a rench off allows salt to settle on your rig.

I have these bars on my truck. Over a year old, 18,000 miles, truck stays outside, and I have no problems whatsoever. I'd take them back to ford and warranty them.
