0, nilch, nada. I would be careful, I bought a couple pads via advice online and neither of them were as good (raybestos, I think my first change were hawks, and now these). You won't be disappointed in the ProACT's and change them yourself, it's cake for anyone.

Thumbs down

If Josiah says that they have no dust, GET THOSE. I took advice from many others who claimed the Porter pads were "fantastic, virtually no dust" and holy **** was that a lie.

After driving for 30 mins I can wipe my wheels off and make the rag filthy. Sucks big time considering the damn money I spent on these pads too. I will NOT be buying these pads again. They DO add some stopping power, for sure, but, the dust is probably 65% of what the stock pads did.

Well if we all drove the living chit out of it like you we'd have brake dust I'd imagine too I just went out and rubbed a finger on the Mazzi's, more brake dust on the back than the front, there was none on the front and very little on the back (typical). I think the rears are those Raybesto's I spoke of earlier, I've been through so many pads it's stupid. Carbon Kevlar, Ceramics, etc. A lot of them, I never wanted to fork out the money for Porterfields and couldn't be happier with the ProACT's, I'm glad I didn't get the porters...thanks for the review.

haha, you probably have a point there. But I would imagine with all the rolling resistance of your wheels and tires your brake dust should be pretty close. but it isn't. Sounds like the ProACT is the way to go.

I don't why people have problems with the Porterfield's too. I can go a whole month without washing my truck and there is absolutely no brake dust on my rims from my Porterfield pads. I'm going on 20k miles on them and no problems at all!

about $95 on ebay if you're interested in them patshea098.

thanks for the input, nothing against you or anyone else but josiah is extremely knowledgable and i take closely to most everything he says, and on here and on his ebay add talks about the ProACT's having no brake dust and how great they are. so im going to go with them whenever i get the money.

I wish I knew. I paid too much for these damn pads, and would return them in a heart beat for ProACTs. The only reason I even freaking switched was because I didn't want to have to clean my damn 22s every 3 days. So much for that.

What pisses me off more than anything is that I can thank the countless idiots who prescribe to the "I have it on my truck so I'm going to sing countless praises BECAUSE it is on my truck" mentality. It's not just these forums, but anywhere that anyone owns something they swear by it...nomatter how terrible it really is.

Just be honest people. /end rant

One day I will change my pads, but since I put KleenWheels on the truck I have 0.0 brake dust issues.
For various reasons my truck has gone a month without a wash, this time included some freeway, some mountain (Big Bear, Arrowhead, etc.) driving.
I checked the tire pressure today and took a second to inspect my rims. No dust.
A few water spots from hitting puddles but not one speck of dust.
So while I would never argue against upgrading your pads, there is one sure way to end the dust.
Chris

I only bought the Porterfields because people on this forum and other forums said they were good and had no dust. And then when I bought my truck in 04, man the dust was bad every couple of days so I knew I had to do something. So I bought the expensive Porterfields. and instantly they were great. I never get any dust, and Why would someone lie about that???

I've heard (from a good mechanic) that the brake shields cut down on the much needed ventilation for the rotors!

Yep, I heard it too. Just not from anyone who actually knows anything about the braking system
For fun I tested them on a long down slope when I first put them on. I put one on the left side, none on the right.
Then did some hard braking coming down the back road from Big Bear (highway 18, a great place to test your handling and brakes).
Stopped at the bottom and lasered the brakes.
Brakes were within 10 degrees F of each other. The hottest side 325 degrees, was the unshielded side. Probably just because the last turn was leaned against it.

You know that they sell lots of 'solid' wheels to this day. I have them on two of my other cars. Both of which stop pretty good.
I've driven a lot in heavy LA traffic, hot weather, stop and go, 5MPH to 80MPH to 5MPH over and over, no problems.

By the way, the KleenWheels have vents. They also sell them with lots of extra vents, but they don’t show any less difference in temperatures in third party tests.
You don’t want them, don’t buy them. Like K&N filters and synthetic oil, it’s your choice.
