I was also thinking about the Viper 791x...I liked this one better.

Travis (KC Autosound) has the best customer service I have come accross in years. Like I said before, you can get the stuff cheaper other places, but he is a guy that I would like his business to succeed. Plus, you get the warranty with him.
So what are the differences in the Viper 791x vs the Code Alarm? Pros and cons of each would be fantastic. I'm a sucker for neat things like power rear sliding windows, etc

You can use those connectors or splice...I actually did both. I had some wires that have the connectors from the previous alarm.

I had to take the lower panel off (under the steering wheel) it was 2 screws and then pulled off. Theres a metal plate behind that...4 screws. I also had to take the shroud off the steering wheel, pops off. I suggest cutting the little lip that tucks behind the steering wheel...it's alot easier to put back on and once it's back on, you cant tell. I took the upper (round) part of the dash off thats right above the steering wheel (to drill a hole for the LED)...it pops right out, can't remember if that had screws or not. Last, I popped off the radio bezel to get to the rear defrost wire. Other than that, just the driver's side door sills and the kick panel around the e-brake...easy.

The main reason I went with Code is they make the Ford factory alarms and it works with the key pad. I also like the Car Link.

I mounted my status LED on the top right corner of my EDGE pod. I didn't want to permanently damage any part of my truck so I drilled a hole in my EDGE pod and mounted it there...I will snap some pics, it turned out really nice. I also plan on putting my stats LED's for my efans in the pod as well, on the bottom left corner just under the programmer itself.

I'm sure that looks great, but... sound like you are planning to leave the Edge in your truck for dealer service....
leaving a programmer in a truck, unless you have a really cool dealer for service, will come back and bite you in the @ss....

My dad is the shop foreman for the dealership I go to so I am not too worried.

Even if I didn't have a good dealership to take it to, its still easy to unplug. Pop the panel off to remove the edge cord, and at the same time, unplug the status LED (it feeds in the exact same place as the edge cord). I put the alarm in valet mode anyway when I take it to the dealership so having the status LED isn't a big deal.

The Car Link works via statellite...you can call on your cell phone to arm/disarm, remote start, lock/unlock, auto finder (car locater), Carjack Vehicle Immobilization, etc. It's unlimited use and no monthly fees.

Travis did a test via his dealer access and remote started my truck from Kansas City (I live in San Diego, CA). I don't have it activated yet because of the weekend, but Travis will call Code up and have it activated for me next week.

I think it's pretty cool.

Well, because of you I will be spending some coin on an alarm. I wanted to get one before the winter anyway.

Too bad I spent 50 bucks on that damn Fusion key

Cool, sounds like you have it under control...
dealers around here hate programmer, I have hinted about them at 3 ford dealers... got the famous " will void your warrenty" line... so I have to be carefull around the dealers..

When Travis did a test on my truck it was only a few seconds before it started.

I have found that it takes 15 - 60 seconds for the command to be processed. Sometimes it's really quick, other times it takes a minute.

Like I mentioned in my other post, I called my truck when I landed at the airport a few weeks ago and it was nice and cool when I got to it. I have season tickets to our college football team and I will use it then too. I will call my truck as we walk out of the stadium and it will be nice and warm when we get to it.
