Ive had it do it when the tank is very like, ie 20-25 miles after the low fuel warning comes on. Only seem to do it under heavy throttle. I just baby it to the gas station.

Those drag racing have mentioned this problem before. Their solution is to never go less then about 1/4 tank, so the pickup tube always has fuel. Not a good idea to run it to empty anyhow as there could be some contaminate to be picked up.

yep bad idea to let it go that low, especially if you are racing it.

Mine struggled this past weekend when I ran it down to less than 4 gallons of gas. Just the fuel pump struggling for fuel. As far as doing it with 1/4 tank of gas left....when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

I haven't checked it out but when I was looking to supercharge my mustang gt, the vortech kit came with an aftermarket fuel pump. I would think any supercharger would also include an aftermarket fuel pump.

Never go WOT with less that 1/8 tank gas... 1/4 tank... maybe.

The gas all sloshes to the back of the tank and the pickup doesnt get gas.

I made that mistake one time.. or two.. Having almost no gas and floored it.. truck reved real high, then cut out.. no gas getting to the engine.

Another reason not to run your tank too low is...When the pump is submerged in fuel it helps cool the fuel pump.Running the tank low often can shorten the life of the fuel pump.
