Exclamation AS 2.5 followup - cam bolt kit required?

Ok, just got back from Goodyear/Gemini, went in for and alignment after installing AS yesterday. They said toe was off (expected) and castor was off on right side - specs below...

Camber L -0.4 R -0.7 (within range of -1 to .6)
Castor L 4.8 R 5.5 (right is .2 out of spec of 3.3 - 5.3)
Toe L .70 R .69 (out of range - expected)

Of course they say I need new cam bolt kit, (close to $300 total for both sides) which I thought I read here would not be necessary...so I declined for the moment. I set up an appt. with Ford Dealer monday to see if they come up with different numbers. Or I can try Firestone, they have lifetime alignment.

Anybody else require cam bolt kits after an AS install?

So alignment not done, and tires not installed. Will have to wait until Monday

Yeah I'm trying Firestone later today or early tomorrow AM and see what they say...probably should have went there in the first place. I also had GY fix my flat while I was there, which cost basically $30. 30 freaking dollars!!! Last time I had a flat fixed it was $6. Anyway I didn't have a warm fuzzy for the place as I was leaving.

About 3 weeks ago i went to my local Ford dealer to get the front end aligned. They put it up on the machine and then told me that they couldnt aligned it because the passenger LCA was bent and also i needed a cam bolt kit. total price 683.00 This is the same service department that completed my alignment 1 year ago when i put in the AS 2.5" kit. I told the service manager that he was full of *****, cuz i never off road my truck and havent struck anything that would bend my LCA. and i reminded him that they did the alignment on my truck a year before and showed him my paperwork to prove it, no cam bolt kit needed then. he stuck to his guns and i got my truck back without the service completed, but they still charged me 88.00 for "putting it on the machine".

Then i took it to Lowe's Tires (a local tire shop) and 30 minutes later my truck was done. My truck drives straight and true.

Ford has lost my business for all service, forever.

$30 for a flat repair is bad.
Around here (Tucson, AZ), Discount Tire will repair a flat free and does not care where you bought the tires.

The only thing that castor will cause is your vehicle to pull to one side. The truck will pull to the side with the lower castor, in your case the left side. Normally you like a little bias towards the left to compensate out for the crown in the road. If you arent having any problems with the vehicle pulling there is no need to worry about it. You wont have any adverse tire wear. Castor is simply the angle drawn though your and lower ball joints with repect to vertical. If it doesnt pull to the left dont worry about it.

Yeah thanks I have been researching caster/camber/etc on the net...Basically what you said is what I'm going to do. The truck is driving fine, ie no excessive pulling or anything - I am heading to Firestone tomorrow AM and if they say anything I am just going to have them fix the toe and leave the rest of it alone....thanks

OK, so I go back to GYG today, grouse a bit about the $30 flat repair fee, mentioned all I really wanted on my alignment was to get the toe corrected, and tossed in a little southern-boy charm for the cute counter girl (or as my better half calls it, acting like a fool in the presense of a cuter younger version of herself - well those weren't here exact words... ), anyway she knocked $30 off the aligment fee. So I am good to go.

7:45 am appt Modnay to get the 35" MT's on, finally it is going to happen I think

I'm just trying to figure out if this is something that I want to tackle on my own or to let a shop install it...

If I remember right, the shop that did my alignment said that everything was in spec. when I brought the truck to them except the toe was out a bit, this was after my 2.5" AS. They had my truck for about 30 min and I was out the door for only $80ish, $40 for alignment and another $40 for mount/balance of tires.
