Sleepless night, foils vehicle breakin!

With all the talk of vehicle breakins on this forum i thought i would share my experience from last night.

I couldnt sleep around 5 am, and was sitting in my living room no lights or tv on, just thinkin when i noticed two guys with backpacks riding bikes down the street looking into cars.
They stopped in front of my house and were taking a good long look at my wifes escape, so i got up and turned of the house alarm, and unlocked the door and prayed they tried to break into her vehicle. I guess the alarm finally persuaded him to move onto my neighbours car, and then they must have seen me and took off. I immediatley called the police and gave them all the details, and within 2 minutes 3 police cars were searching the area for them. Not to sure if they caught them, but with all the bad news about breakins on these forums lately, i thought we could all use some good news.
P.S. Aftermarket alarms seem to do the trick in at least detering them, as i am sure if my wifes escape didnt have the blinking blue light they would have broken into it for sure.

Up in the great white north, they arent to fond of people with guns.
Plus if i had a gun, it would have taken away some of the physical enjoyment I was planning on having arresting the morons. As well i am a big guy, which tends to scare the crap out of people who are up to no good, especially when i am pissed off.

Only draw back to the whole thing is that now i want to stay up all night to see if the clowns come back.

If they do, usually 2 nights later is the magic number

Set up secuirty cameras, or more cheaply.....fake security cameras. If you choose the real way you can just leave them on and get a digital recorder and if any thing gets broken into just review teh tape and send it to the cops, and also the thieves might see the camera if you try to make it obvious wich will detour them from breaking in.

Also, if you choose the fake way, the theives will see the camera and be detoured to steal but if not you got your self a little mess.

It might be funny, but I don't recommend pulling a gun unless you're ready to use it. They might end up putting holes in a guy who only has a pellet pistol for defense

The good thing about living in Alabama is:
#1 Concealed weapons permits are only $10.00
#2 The state Legislators passed a "no retreat" law. It saids if your protecting yourself, your family, your home or your vehicle you can shoot someone and there will be no charges filed by the police. In other words if the bad guy threatens you, no retreat is necessary, just whack him.
