JLT Dyno Numbers
JLT Dyno Numbers
I went to the dyno yesterday. The only mods are the JLT air intake with the JLT X-Cal2, and a Flowmaster Super 40 SIDO muffler. This was the 93 octane tune. The A/F is about perfect, but looks like it can be leaned out just a little bit. The timing in the tune is also pretty conservative, I think a couple more degrees would bring the TQ up quite a bit. I'll experiment more later.

Nice, for the combination in mods thats great performance. It took significantly more to break into the 260's. Not sure where your torque is but the hp is up there. You are also running 93 octane which provides a good gain in performance. Only 91 is available here in Cali. *sigh*
I am not buying that the JLT is better than a AF1/SCT combo. After having owned both I can say that the AF1 seems to performs better all around. I will say that the JLT sounds much better for those of you who do not like alot of noise. But then again I never dynoed either setup so I am just going on seat of the pants feel not fact.
Not bad.
I got a free coldair intake from GREEN performance that is basically identical in style to the Airraid JR setup..uses the stock airbox, sort of side-load ram air style, and comes with an upgraded air filter.
Do you think I would get a truly noticable gain going to the AF1 and fixing my tune on my xcal2 over my current intake? Or not worth the cost?

Great #'s man, right on par from when we have seen in all our testing.
It's hard to gauge your exact gains without a base line, but with the truck normally seeing 225-240 RWHP in stock form (many seeing even lower)you picked up some big #'s. Right in the 30-40 RWHP we have seen.
$555 complete about $15.85/HP
What does the AF1 and X-2 run?
No one mentioned the AF1??
Keep in mind you did not test this and did not get a tune from JLT. All you got was the filter set up from JLT. The power is made in the tuning and the intake flow. Don't take offence, this is just a note to make your statment clear to others. We have tested other tunes and the tunes from JLT/SCT are the best we've seen so far.
Thanks for the post of your results. Hard info is the only way to see what gains what.
Don't believe the product statments and leave it at that. JLT gains what it claims!!
Thanks
Jay

Nice, looks like you gained around 23RWHP from the JLT/Xcal combo. How much does the JLT with tune cost?? Be a good idea for me to get a HP/$ spent estimate.

Thanks Jay, I have always been impressed by your products and especially the service. I am gonna tweak on the tune in the next few weeks and see if we can squeeze some more power and TQ out of this thing with the A/F a little closer to 13:1, and a tad more timing. I'll post the results when I do.
Looks like your trq numbers are way low after looking at them, like like 40lb/ft low. That blowmaster muffler might having something to do with loss of low end trq, but also your pretty rich. Id lean it out to around 12.8-13.0 area and see what that does.

Actually I had the JLT filter and SCT tuner combo FYI! So when it comes to my statement I think I was qualified to make it. And ill say it again, The Af1/SCT in my opinion is better!

Any thread ive read in the past has comments on both sides of the fence. Also id like to point out that when I did have the JLT on my truck I started a couple of threads praising its performance and sound. I still think it is a excellent intake and I apologize if you in any way feel I was bashing it,Truly not my intention. Your right it is just my opinion. Congrats on your numbers.

You did not buy a JLT/SCT combo from JLT Performance Inc. You bought a JLT intake and got a tune and tuner else where. That is what I'm trying to say.
This is very important because the way you say it you got OUR package and that's not the case.
The tune can make the differance, so I believe if you had the complete package as we tested and offer your feeling would be differant. So in all honesty your statement in not a fair one, as the customer here has the whole package from JLT and got the power claimed by JLT.
We can not gaurantee other tuners tunes. We test the tunes that come from the makers of the X-2 and that's SCT themselves.
I'm glad you made posts praising the JLT, but most I have read have been about your truck not starting (tune related) and how the AF1 was better in your opinion (again, tune related)but not mentioning that you got the tune else where. The JLT flows air, the tune makes good use of the air. If the tunes not right, the truck will not respond.
So as much as I thank you for your support all I'm asking is for the post to be accurate in there content.
FWIW, I just had a customer call me personally who just raced a truck with a AFI/X-2 tuned by a reputable tuner here and it was no contest.

I may need to pick one up for some testing.
