Ford cars dont suck?? Name one car that is even making a profit for Ford?? The Fusion is ok and the rest are complete junk. Whos buying the focus? The 500? Old ppl and some business/fleet the crown vic. Thats Ford's car line up. Their trucks are the only thing keeping them afloat at this point. The mustang and fusion are the ONLY Ford vehicles selling at this point. Im a Ford fan and I will admit their car line sucks.

No, the escape was meant to compete with the Honda CRV and the plethora of other smaller foreign SUV's that consumers are eating up. If you want to know what the girl cars are: Focus, V6 Mustang, Minivan, etc. Granted alot of women do buy Honda CRV's and Escapes, but I wouldnt classify them as a girl car.

my mother drives an 06 Ford Escape Limited with every option you can get.

That SUV beats the hell out of my Mounty! Much better then my mounty will ever be, mines bigger then the Escape, but quality, and ride can't compare to mine as the Escape is much better, and extremely solid. Very very nice SUV's Escapes are and very nice looking too.

heres what we got...

I've got both, you'll like the Escape.

I think on paper the V6 Escape and the 5.4l F150 are pretty much equal 0-60. My seat of the pants meter says my Escape feels a lot quicker than my nearly 3 ton F150.

I got the 2001 Escape XLT v6 with auto 4wd loaded brand new back when I was in Hawaii. I love that truck. Gets up and goes like my 98 v6 grand am did. I know I was pushing 110mph easy (damn governer) when I was stationed over in the UK. Taken her off road a few times nothing extreme though and she handle beautifully on all road types and glides in the snow like a olympic skier. Going to own that truck till one of us dies. I love my F150 but I still get a kick out of driving the Escape when the wife lets me.

So congrats and good luck on the smaller side of the Ford house.

Consumer Reports rates the Escape very high, I think you will have good luck with your new SUV.

I bought my daughter a used 2003 Escape Limited 4x4, didn't need the 4x4 but it was on the truck. It is a very nice little SUV and the insurance company gives it a better safety discount than they do for a Honda CR-V. I compared insurance rates for several vehicles before deciding to get her the Escape, which also happened to be the vehicle she wanted.

Good luck with your schooling and come back after graduation to show us your new F-150.

For anyone else considering a small SUV, you might want to consider the Subaru Forester XT:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/suba...755/specs.html

It is ugly as hell, but it is highly rated by most of the car magazines. It will go zero to 60 mph in under 6 seconds!
