I would just have to say that you have bad luck. These things happen, but not very often at all. A fluke. Good luck to ya.

Thats nothing... my grandpa bought a truck for the farm brand spankin new a few years back. On the drive home (about 56 miles, give or take a few yards) he gets to within 10 miles of the house and the tranny locks up while he's doing about 60-65 mph. He left the truck where it sat, hitchhiked home and called the dealership told them to come and get it.

The manufacturer, who will remain nameless (but they do start with a "C" and rhymes with "heavy") just gave him a brand new truck and wouldn't let the dealership even touch the vehicle.

But sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully they'll get it fixed quick for you.

Transmissin' issue - fixed quick

I recently converted a friend of mine over to Ford from the bowtie brand. He bought a 05 Lariat Screw. 950 miles and he had some major tranny problems. He takes it to the dealer and the tranny was replaced with no fuss... He rubbed that problem in good - but since the fix, he is as happy as can be with his new Ford.

My 05 STX scab has been very good to me - 8600 miles so far - just a door alignment issue when I got it. They let me borrow a new Fusion while it was being fixed - nice car!

It happens. There's a lot of parts in an automatic transmission, a lot of events internally to the transmission (i.e., apply this band, apply that band, lock this clutch, energize that shift solenoid, etc.) must be timed correctly to coincide with each other to ensure our transmission shifts properly and lives a long, happy life.
