Had to apologize to dealer
Had to apologize to dealer
I've been whining for quite some time about the AC on my '05 F150. Whenever I have the AC set for both dash and floor and I turn the temp **** to about 10 o'clock to cut the cold and temper it with a little heat, the passenger side floor vent goes all hot. Other vents continue to blow modulated cool air.
I took the rig to the dealer in June. He checked it against two other trucks and said he found the same performance, said no problem, nothing to fix. I just couldn't believe Ford would design such a bizzare "feature" into their system. I didn't really believe they checked. Never have owned a vehicle where the various vents gave off different temps, except for some slight variation due to proximity to the heater core, etc.
I stewed about this for a couple of months, then took it back into the dealer this week. I had the service guy come out so I could show him exactly what it was doing. He observed what I observed. We then grabbed an '06 F150 to test it. Exactly the same performance. I now believe they did check. I still don't understand what the engineers were thinking with this.
The service guy was mystified that I would want other than full-cold... I dunno, maybe I don't see the heat control as a two-position switch. I like to control my temp. Silly me. In winter I don't drive with the heat on full all the time either. Guess that makes me weird (nah, plenty of other things about my personality make me weird, this is just a symptom).
That's the only real gripe I have with the truck, so in the scheme of things it's pretty minor. But why, Ford, why?
