Help with next MOD

OK guys just finished a small side job that net me an extra $500 to spend on the 04 F150 FX4

Not trying to build a race machine or anything but like the power itch.

Heres the question?

E-Fan
Edge
Exhaust

If those were your choices with a few extra bucks what would you get next already have CAI and few other misc interior Mods complete you can check them out in my gallery.

I also have a Autometer dual pillar pod on its way with Carbon Fiber Gauges for air/fuel ratio and trans temp for when I am pulling my trailer plus I just needed to fill the other gauge hole with something.

I like the Edge Pod but also wonder if pillar pod will give me clearance issues?

Thanks Mike

Get the edge from http://discountpowerparts.com/ for $335 shiped and you will have about 165 left. Save the rest towards an exhaust if you want a full catback system.

there is a great deal on efans right now http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.c...ns_220_shipped

and straight pipes are by far the best exhaust you can do and can do for very cheap and you will gain more power then most exhaust systems, then save up another hundred or two and get the edge(even though i prefer the xcal2)

When you guys say straight pipes are you talking about just taking muffler out and replacing with a piece of straight pipe?

And does the edge come with only 1 color pod I would assume black or are there choices with this?

Thanks

Edge!

Yes, the pod only comes unfinished in black. There is supposed to be a duplicolor that matches. I'd love to find out what the correct color for mine is. The black does look bad.

Edge and E-fans in that order. Power is hard to gain in exhaust, in fact it's a treat if you don't lose anything with exhaust. I've been through several combinations. E-fans give you considerable top end gain via recovered parasytic loss. I am not saying there is no power to be had with an exhaust, but the gains with e-fans and tuner surpass those with an exhaust.

Edge, then efans, then exhaust if you are looking from a most to least power gains perspective. Also, the Edge can be mounted in the ashtray if you have the flowthrough. I have pics in my gallery. The efans added more power then the exhaust and also netted me some MPG gains, the exhaust just sounds mean, lol.

I am still waiting to put my pulleys on, then onto maybe a new cam or a new y-pipe w/high flow cats and eventually shorty headers. They will all end up on the truck at some time though. Careful on the power mods, as with anything, they are a slippery slope. I am now shooting for over 300 RWHP and still to be a N/A daily driver. It starts to all add up though.

You are going to have a hard time getting there. @ Full bolton status you probably won't hit 300 so cams or something to that effect is going to have to get you there. I have no say on headers but I don't believe the long tubes are carb legal here. There was someone who posted here in regards to cams and had dyno'd with the perfect amount of exhaust flow & size, I know my current exhaust is wasting some valuable hp/tq. I dyno'd w/flowmaster, intake, XCal2 & e-fans and I was hitting 269rwhp/330tq or so. You can also look into a plasma ignition but I believe it was rafa who told me the gains were close to nill. Removing your cats will provide some nice gains but then again, same as longtubes and I had a hard time getting someone to do it. I had a friend in a shop who finally gave in to my persistence.

I was looking to get as high on the dyno as possible n/a as well, thats why I went with magnaflow instead of flow, etc. When the mods were not giving me the gains I was hoping for (was still getting waisted by a select few trucks) I sorta gave up on the 5.4 and threw the flowmaster on there and thought I should at least sound like I've done a few things to it if I can't perform like I have.

Can I use your edge when we get to Pismo. I'd like to use it as a gtech on my XCal2 and then try the edge and see which performs better.

Josiah,

I'm looking at getting shorty equal length headers and high flow cats. I should still be able to pass emisions in AZ with those as well as the y-pipe and pick up a few ponies.

Also looking at adding the cam, new ignition, possibly MAF, maybe port and polish the heads, maybe moving over to the 4V heads but I am trying to avoid that, injectors and we'll see what else.

Like I said I am shooting for the 300 RWHP but if I get 295 I'm not going to cry lol. I just want to see what can be done with the new modular 3 valvers. As time goes on we learn more. I saw the post Assasinator posted about the crazy Comp Cam, but I think that thing would be a little, uhm, less than satisfying for a daily driver. I'm shooting for a happy medium. It's all good.

Thanks for all the info,

Like I said I am not trying to be the fastest, just more power overall. The CAI was a definate improvement and took some of the off the line lag away but I know it can be better.

I heard what I thought and will go for the mods in this order

EDGE
E-FAN
Something with the exhaust (undecided at the moment)

I really just want the punch that my lifted 2000 F150 had.
