Anyone modify their Transmission pan for a plug?
Anyone modify their Transmission pan for a plug?
I am thinking when I change my transmission fluid. I may tap the pan and weld on a bung for a plug. This way I can change it say every 15k without dropping the pan. I would also look for a cooler that I can add a filter with. More likely I will want to do it. I hate pulling the pan
Any thoughts?

I'm changing all my fluids within the next couple days, my tcase, engine oil, might do my tranny's as well and maybe the diffs. This is going to cost a fortune!
Btw, Royal Purple is incredibly hard to get a hold of, so I might stop using it.

B&M makes a kit to add a drain. Forget what I paid for the last one but it was way under 10 bucks. Easy to install, works well. Any chain autoparts place will sell them. Look near the tranny coolers.
Less work than pulling the pan, couple wrenches and a drill.

I just re-read my post.
I may have implied that you don't have to pull the pan, but with the common kit you do have to remove it to put the nut on the inside.
The Kit I use/recommend you pull the pan off, clean or replace the filter if you need to, then drill a half inch hole in the lowest part of the pan. Insert the drain and lock down the nut. The drain comes with gaskets. Then you can drain the tranny any time you want, quickly and neatly.
There is a kit you do not have to pull the pan for, uses a self tap drain plug. You drill a hole and then put in the self tap with Loctite. I recommend the other one though. No chance of metal fragments being left in the pan, and you want to clean out the pan for possible dirt anyway.
Also, you should clean the screen at least once.
