Pulley bearings going bad

Anyone having problems with idler pulleys, tensioner pulleys, or the other "idler" grooved pulley on the driver side going out? I keep though through them like crazy. At first I thought my belt was to tight, but its in range and has propper slack in it. I would blaim it on the supercharger, but none of these have the belt routed different. Only thing I can think of is im shifting this thing 5600-6000rpm and the bearings are giving out.

Anyone else?

I havent heard of anything on these engines, but some problems on other modular motors (4v). Maybe try taking them to a bearing shop and have some higher quality bearings fitted...

Yep, my tensioner pulley went out @ pismo last trip. I was stranded on the dunes forever. I was real lucky and found a donor totalled F150 thanks to a guy who overheard my conversation @ Kragens. The bearings were going bad for some time, I'm near positive it was an overtight belt. I was pulled back to camp by a hummer (H1). Recently at startup my truck has been rattling up front for the first few seconds until it winds down, it sounds like a pulley is loose again. When the pulley is going out (bearings) it will sound like it has dirt between the *****, even if cleaned.

o crap mine sounds like that!! i just though it got some dust in there that started to turn in to mub with the rain we have had lately. In az thats what happens the dryness gets dust in to eveything like starters and Alt and now I guess pullys and then with rain the dust in stuff turns to mud. Everyfirst good rain after a long summer we have a least 3 truck go down to bad alt and starters. now I am worried about my pullys!!!

This is what I have been thinking of doing. I just need to find another grooved pulley somewhere so i can swap them all out at once. I know alot of guys are giong highspeed roller ball bearings and claiming to gain 5-10rwhp or so.

might be a dumb question but ive never really looked....do these trucks have the spring loaded automatic tensioners or are they manually adjusted?

Spring loaded on the passanger side mid part of the engine. Use a 1/2" rachet/breaker bar to move.

It's spring loaded, 1/2" drive. Just for ****z and giggles, it runs about $45 @ your local Kragens (entire arm assembly)...don't ask me how I know (edit: I already told you hah). We have very smooth pulleys compared to many, I believe that is why our engine de-revs so long. Either way I cannot find anyway to justify 5-10rwhp with the way most of the pulley's I've turned, spin. Which pulley(s) are the one in question?
