Paint Chip

hey,
my truck was parked near grass the other day and some #%#%*&$ idiot decides to cut the grass right next to the truck. I go to get in my truck and of course i find it covered in grass and i then found two PAINT CHIPS on my otherwise perferct truck! So heres the problem, i really dont want to use that crappy touch up paint. Does anyone know if any body shops preferably Ford ones can take care of this thing and make it look good?
Thanks

Bastard could have at least turned his mower around to blow away from your truck....Just get a bottle of good touch up paint and be very carefull not to over apply it and have either a big glob of paint or a small run. Two little chips probably aren't worth the cost of a body shop repair.

USe touch up, have a decent coat and use high grit sandpaper to lelvel it out then polish. Should blend back evenly so it looks like nothing ever happened.

Is black a metallic paint? That link you posted screw2004 (by the way where the hell were you!) is a great link. If it weren't so darn expensive I'd get it. I'd like to see a before and after photo, heavy duty rubbing compound also acts as wetsanding and can get out scratches in the clear. I have many many scars I need repaired, they run the lines of my truck so I'm fearful of these "touchup" paints as you'll see it from every angle. Please post some before and after pics if you have'em. I'm going to try something like this tomorrow, where can I get some clearcoat and what is the best way to apply the touchup paint and clear? I'm going to use 2000 grit wetsand paper if I decide to.

I've been using this recently as well. It does work pretty good... although, I really need to do it more often. The front ends of these trucks are rock magnets... the paint simply does not hold up well up there.

I've detailed oodles of other vehicles -- some much older than mine with 5 times as many miles. They don't have an eighth of the chips that I have. Nissan, in fact, is the best when it comes to their front end paint durability -- at least on their passenger cars.

Nature of the beast I suppose...

Oh yeah, if you want to TU paint and then sand, here's a good tutorial...

Rock Chip Repair

I use that method as well... works well but takes some time and a lot of patience.

Yes to both.

The Langka product is solid. The blot and sand method is as well. I wouldn't recommend them without some prior experience.... extensive experience with the blot and sand.

The Langka option works great, probably more so on solid colors, I think Mother's makes a kit that is very similar and a little less in cost. I've used the Langka with good success on several chips and it seems to do the trick, not perfect, but pretty close and a lot harder to see than a primer/metal chip <g>...

where was this guy? was it in front of a business? you should have found out who he was working for and then talked to them. They should help you out. I havent heard of this happen before but I know of people who have gotten hit by rocks from 18wheelers and they called up that company and they fixed it for them.
