Dash Touch-Up Question??

I have a few small places on the grey/silver part of my dash in my '04 Lariat Supercrew with light tan interior. I am wanting to find a local shop (Houston,TX area) that I can have them do a color match and then paint the spots or the whole grey are in the center of the dash.

The problem is that I do not know who to call on this. Should I call a paint shop, a body shop, or some type of specialty shop? I have been in contact with one place that says they can do it but after several calls into them and no follow through I have given up on them.

Let me know your opinions. Or if anyone knows a place in Houston that would be great!

Thanks

I know that Ford sells the interior paint in a small spray can. They probably have to order it. Perhaps you could just spray a little in the cap, and touch it up with a modeling brush.

O4Screw I do not know the answer to that question, none of the interior paints offered by Ford will match that area of your dash, your interior paint code will be useless, in trying to get paint for that area of the dash, it will only give you the paint colour for the other areas of the dash glovebox, passenger airbag etc. HOWEVER since there are hundreds of us trying to get paint to match this area, including myself, can we not collectively figure out a way to get the proper paint code from Ford, there must be someone on the site that actually works for Ford(not a dealer)that can do some digging and come up with the proper paint code.

The paint used in the silver portions of the '04+ F150 dash is an oddball formulation that isn't available over the counter from Ford. Touching up spots will not work, well, it will, but it won't look right. The entire section has to be blended for best effect.

The Ford approved paint formulations for that color are:
  • Akzo-Nobel FA9133l
  • BASF 3Q4
  • Dupont 3Q4CXXK
  • Martin-Senour MS65272
  • PPG 902177
  • Sherwin Williams SW 65272
  • Spies Heckler 741316
  • Standox 3Q4CXXK
All this stuff is intended to be sprayed on with a gun, just as if painting a body panel.

They'll need to reference TSB 03-15-4.
