I am thinking of painting the top half of the mirror caps. Has anyone done this? Is there a cap available already painted that replaces or snaps over the top mirror half?

Moss Motors carried a lot of parts that were a cap like that, to paint and tape over, like the door handles too, even though they were way over priced. i would just sand it smooth and paint it yourself. think about the whole mirror too... just the top part looks half ***

 

I just can't stand the half painted ones, or half chrome. It's paint all of it or none for me.

 

Paint EVERYTHING!! don't just paint a upper cap.

Can you paint them with some krylon? Sorta like the pods on the edge?

 

Most people don't like the half painted mirrors, but I thought it followed more of a factory look. To me the only color truck I would paint the whole mirror on would be black.

 

Paint everything.

Im planning on getting mine fully painted after the lift when I go to get my fender flares painted.

 

04 RED LARIAT,

Did you have to mask off the mirror, or does the top half come off? Im thinking for my white lariat...the top half painted would look better, especially with my black and chrome running boards and dark tint.

 

It's not looking real glossy since they are coated with bugs, but I think you have to go all or none. If you are into the half painted deal, take a look at the new FX2 model. Maybe they'll have an option off of that for a paintable half mirror.

I was at the Ford dealership today getting an estimate...someone rearended me last night...thankfully only the bumper is damaged...but my trailer hitch reciever did some major damage to them...

Surprisingly the Ford dealership quoted me $50 per mirror to paint the whole thing, or just the top half...I think that is an unbelievable price for a dealership...

 

It was just masked off.
