temp of a/c from dash outlets
thats a good thought about the extra insulation. my truck is the dark green so it does heat soak pretty good. the a/c has never been fantastic but it was never as bad as it was for the past couple weeks. i mentioned that i lubed the linkage under the dash. so far that seems to have done the trick. now after thinking about the dealer visit, i cant imagine that they have not either seen this or heard about it. when i tell them that its hot and describe the noise they should be familiar enough to zero in.
im glad i didnt buy the mustang from them. if they cant get it right when they have a deal riding on it i can only guess wht they would do if they didnt care.

I love remarks like this.
Ford has sold something like a million of this model, where I live, 50 miles or so from Death Valley (the hottest place in the US for those overseas) these trucks dominate the road. I passed over 30 of the new model just going to Costco yesterday.
And I have never met anyone who has one with a bad A/C. I've worked on a half dozen of them locally and talked with scores of owners. All are very happy with their A/C.
Sure there are some with problems scattered across the country. Too low R134, occasional defective units, like any model car/truck.
Sadly many dealerships have no one that has a clue about A/C, but that occurs at any dealership, not just Ford.
The idea that all these trucks or that all Fords mysteriously have bad A/C is just plain dumb.
My truck pulls it down from 175F (actual dash temperature on a sunny day) to cold enough to make a fat guy shiver in about seven minutes. Or just about as fast as my wife's much more expensive Touring Coupe.
If you have an A/C problem, get it fixed, at the dealer or at a private shop. But please, just stop whining about how Ford is terrible, just because you have an A/C problem.
Rant off.

there are some other posts here that describe a scenario where the "recirc" feature may not activate properly, even though the light may say it is on recirc.
The solution to this (until the TSB is released to correct the software) is to press the recirc button twice. This apparently gets the recirc door to operate properly.

I sure as hell wish licensing was required to work on any A/C system, regardless of what refrigerant it uses. People who use additives or replacements like Hotshot are idiots, IMO, that's like taking aspirin for a chainsaw wound. Learn how the system works, and repair the root cause of the concern. R134a works fine.
If you're an "ac technician" and you use Hotshot, I want to know who you work for, so I can tell anyone I might know in the area to stay the hell away from you.

while I agree with the overall premise of your post (it doesn't mean Ford s*cks..all manufacturers have problems) there seems to be quite a few of us that are having issues with the A/C in our 2006 Screws .
as for cycling the recric button .. that seems to have stopped working for me .. now .. in order to get cold air .. I have to:
start truck
hit recirc to turn it off ..
hit A/C button to turn it off..
Hit OFF
wait about 45 seconds ..
Hit AUTO
cycle recirc button once or twice .. finally it starts blowing cold.
this is while driving or sitting .. and most fo the time, the recirc button does nothing.
I was hoping to be able to wait until Ford knew what is wrong and the TSB was out before I took it into the dealer, but at this rate, I may have to just bite the bullet. mine problem might even be a different one.
other than the A/C issue .. I have been extremely pleased with my truck...
HAHA
I will rant on cause the a/c is crap and Ford won't admit it like everything else ,they are trying to keep their service trips down HAHA...the coldest it gets is 40 when sitting still ,warmer when driving because of the low pressure cycleing switch...as you increase rpm pressure drops and clutch turns off hence no compression. Until Ford puts in a lower pressure cycleing switch than 22 lbs and realizes that it freezes up for some other reason the a/c will suck. The other Dead giveaway is there is no water drainage unless a/c is on vent , recirc will not produce any water..water drops off the return in the engine compartment (thermodynamics 101) cold refrigerant is making it past the evaporator meaning there is not enough heat transfer hence not cold enough air.Say what you want but if you compare thsi a/c to an expedition of say 2002 with vent temps down around 34 then the expedition will cool off faaster. Chris obviously has a fluke of a truck !
And I am happy for him
But mine has been to 2 dealers 3 times and it is all the same no matter if it is too hi or to low on freon have done it all.Even bypassed the low pressure switch and this helps with the cycleing during start and stop but this is when the cab has already cooled down will this come into play due to high cab temp = hi pressure.Actually my problem is getting it to cool down faster, but the sunroof insulation has helped quite a bit!!!!
Do we really expect Ford to do anything ? Of course not! Its kinda like the frozen spark plug issue and the cruise control switches causing a fire!!!
Oh well ,will know what to look for in my next new vehicle, huh?

well, to bad the dealer that made no attempt to fix my a/c problem didnt. went by the dealer that i normally buy from which is 20 miles farther away and picked up an 06 mustang convertible. my KR is nice to drive but this convertible is a whole other type drive. with the v8 it is fast. i got boys that are 9 and 10 and they think it is the coolest thing riding in the back seat with the top down. then i got the little one yelling i wanna go fast cause he saw talladega nights on friday.
