Anyone else have this rattle?

2 weeks ago, my 06 FX4 with 4000 miles developed a very annoying rattle. It is just to the left of the steering wheel and sounds like it is coming from in or around the drivers side a/c vent.

Does anyone else have this rattle and was your dealership able to repair it?

I don't complain often, but damn it's annoying.

Thanks!

Did it sound like two pieces of tin ratlling together? If so, yes I did have this problem. I've since had it fix at my local dealer. I'll look on my service order to see what they did to resolve it. I'll be visiting them about another ongoing problem sometime in the next couple of days and I could also ask them for you.

I'm having another problem, especially noticeable when turning on a gravel road, where the steering column and steering wheels rattles as well. They've already replaced the steering column and it didn't fix the problem and now we are still trying to find the problem.

Any ideas on this one?

I pretty much sounds like that part of the dash is loose, like plastic rubbing together. I have a different vibration that sounds like metal, but its from me taking out the stock sirius tuner. I have yet to fix that one.

Thanks for checking your invoice!

My vents periodically rattle too. I just fool with them and they stop, kind of lightly push/pull them. They seem loose from the factory that way. Next time I take it in I'll mention the rattle.

I have a rattle too...! Sometimes, when I try to push the floorboard into the grille... I hear a rattling sound between my ears..! Dealer can't seem to find it though.

Ah ha, so I am not the only one. I had my truck on a particularly rough road this weekend and sure enough I had the rattle in driverside dash. It almost sounds like either a wire loom or connector that ain't tied up. Man I hate taking it to the dealer just for that, but I may have to.

Funny how the only time you can hear rattles is if the vehicle is quite enough to hear them. I had a noise when ever I hit the brakes. It turned out to be my sun glasses case in the overhead moving back and forth.

I have an 04' F150 and had the same problem, sounded like it was coming from the dash. I took it to my dealer and they put their squeak master on it. Seems it was the shroud by the drivers side windshield wiper (on the outside). They replaced that and the squeaky/grinding noise vanished.

I had a rattle that drove me crazy, only heard it when the engine idle was around 700 rpm so everytime I would start off it would do it for about a 1/2 second, turned out to be a loose air intake vent for the HVAC system. Sounded like a wood pecker under the floor board, odd thing was, you couldn't hear it from outside the truck.
